Red Herring - n. Something intended to divert attention from the real problem or matter at hand; a misleading clue.
The neo-cons might be evil, but they’re not stupid. Palin was not an impulsive pick. It was a thoroughly calculated move, and it is working. Palin was chosen to be a red herring. As the definition above explains, a red herring is a diversion - a sleight of hand designed to draw attention away from where it should be.Flipping through the television tonight, I have noticed that every single news channel is discussing Sarah Palin. Except for FoxNews, it is all Democrats dragging Palin through the mud. It seems that angry liberals raging against an unqualified Christian conservative makes for great theater and solid ratings. It’s time for the show to end. From now until the election, whenever you feel the urge to talk about Palin, talk about one of the following issues instead:1 ) The economy2 ) The War in Iraq3 ) The economy4 ) The fact that McCain is the same as Bush5 ) The economy6 ) Health care7 ) The economy8 ) McCain’s ties to lobbyists9 ) The economy10 ) Obama’s energy alternativesOne of the oldest rules in politics is that if the economy is bad, the party in power loses. So instead of convincing America that Palin is a horrible VP selection, we would be much better served to remind them of how bad the economy has gotten, how the Republicans are responsible, how McCain’s policies promise more of the same, and how Obama is the one with a new plan and a new vision.
The other thing that has to be asked is why these two at this time?If it wasn't for these last 8 years with Bush's now McCains policies. People wouldn't be running to Obama. It's a nice trap.Screwed either way.
AHHHHHHHHHHH, help I'm stuck in the Matrix, everything is an illusion.
This is a great thread. Many americans could learn alot by honestly thinking about it instead of getting defensive.
