Proof that Flex used train hardcore?
« on: September 16, 2008, 03:56:11 PM »
This was in a June 1993 article of Flex magazine.  Charles Glass was speaking of Flex Wheeler: "I've got him working out on a four -on/one-off system now, and he's so damn strong! I've been telling him to back off on the tonnage a little bit and concentrate more on the quality of his muscle mass. When he competes in the pros this year, he's going to upset a lot of bodybuilder's apple carts. This man is dangerous!"

Of course we know the story, he won the 1993 Arnold in the best shape of his life, wins two more pro shows and places second at the O.

you don't build the kind of size he had without being strong, i'm sure he could barbell incline 405 for a couple of reps at one time.

Quite true. But People don't realize, he competed at 215-232, at a height of 5'10, that is a very light weight for his his stature. Most bodybuilders of that height would be about 250 comp weight.  So for Flex in training mode, would be pushing the weight you stated...

yeah i think 405 for a few reps on bb inclines is what you see the strongest guys doing these day as far as bodybuilders go, i saw Flex in person once in 2000 and he was offseason and looked about 255-260, quiet dude.

I'm watching that shit now, I just trained chest....I had to "get permission from my Parents" to watch it though ;D. Anybody who has wacthed the vid knows that Flex was telling people to get permission from their parents to watch.
