Under the best possible circumstances (perfect diet, training, supplementation, and recovery strategies) the average male body can manufacture between 0.25 and 0.5 pounds of dry muscle tissue per week. That is the amount your natural body chemistry will allow you to build. So we're talking about around one or two pounds per month. It may not sound like much, but that can add up to twelve to twenty pounds over one year of training.
this is complete bullshit. i must be a genetic freak if this is true for most people

Agreed. 2-4lbs a year is more like it for the average natural (after rookie gains). Everything above that is usually fat-gaining induced delusion.

i was going to say..yeah, after rookie gains, cause 2-4 lbs it would have taken me like 20-40 years to make the gains i did in my firt 2-3 years. i started off at 150lbs and got up to 255 around the same probably with about 1olbs more fat after 4 years.  i put on muscle pretty easy

no I think it's more likely that you don't know the difference between fat and muscle.

Agreed. I think when I'm shredded, I'll stay that way and just slowly gain weight.

It's always nice to meet these genetic freaks on getbig isn't it?

I mean there are humans all around who have unlocked the next step in evolution and it only took 40k years.

I met a guy the other day who swore he hardly ate yet he weighed 252lbs and he is just "bigger than most people naturally".

no, i was leaner than i am now at 202lbs than i was at 255, not fat at all.  no abs showing, so definitly not lean, but no love handles, bloated face etc. id say about 12-14%bf. i put on muscle easy, dont know what to say. i posted some pics of me currently in a thread i posted. ill update once i get noticably bigger

after my first year of training people couldnt recognise me.  some people have good genetics for gaining muscle, im one of them.

when i was at 255lbs my measurments were realy nothing special
18in arms cold
29-30in thighs, my legs grow really easy
calves were pathetic since i never focused on them enough, 17in with no definition
34-35in waist

i also had some pretty decent lifts
315bech by 6-8
there was this lat pull down machine where the handles work seperately, id use the whole stack for 1 lat, + add 2 45lb plates
405 deadliftx 20
315 squat ass to grass x 20+
365 squat ass to grass x12
140lb flat bench dumbells x 6-8

there are plenty of more impressive people out there than me. im not sure why my claims are so un-belivable.

I said you don't gain muscle fast, I never said 2-4 pounds  A YEAR
if it was so, I wouldn't even go to the gym anymore  ;)

How long have you been training?
If it's less than two years -> rookie gains.

I think that the problem with the "traditional" bulking, is that people tend to eat way too much. Personally, I think the smart way to do a "bulk", is to increase calories in increments, and figuring out what results you're getting. I'm talking about 300 to 500 cals increases, as needed. BTW, I'm referring to naturals here, not those on gear. Bulking/overeting may be fine for "users", but for naturals, it's a bad idea.
