I received this weird spam email yesterday....
« on: September 17, 2008, 10:34:18 AM »
...What's the point of this kind of spam email.  I don't get it.  Anyone else get something like this?  What's the scam ???

Dear Beloved,

I came across your contact via international personal research profile in
my earnest search for a trustworthy and honest person to handle my
business and I apologize if the content hereunder are contrary to  your
moral ethics, but I had to reach you through this medium.

As you read this, I do not want you to feel sorry for me; because,I
believe everyone will die someday. my name is Mr. Ramin Tadius a merchant
in Tunis - Tunisia. I have been diagnosed with esophageal cancer.

It has defied all forms of medical treatment, and right now I have only
about a few months to live, according to medical experts.

I have not particularly live my life so well, as I never really cared for
anyone (not even myself) but my business. Though I am very rich, I was
never generous; I was always hostile to people and only focused on my
business as that was the only thing I cared for.

But now I regret all this as I now know that  there is more to life than
just wanting to have or make all the  money in  the world. I believe when
God gives me a second chance to come to this world I would live my life a
different way from how I have lived it.

Now that I have willed and given most of my property and assets to my
immediate and extended family members as well as a few close friends.

I want Our creator to be merciful to me and also accept my soul, hence,I
have decided to give alms to charity organizations and less privilledged
Homes accross the world, as I want this to be one of the last good deeds I
do on earth.

I want to believe that you will be capable of handling this
task for me.

Thank you
Ramin Tadius

he'll just need your account number where he can transfer the 7 billion dollars he has to get rid of immediately, and since his currency isn't convertible to dollars, he'll need a 1000 dollars just to sort out the transaction fees with the bank.

i've gotten this too, i sent another guy in the same predicament 350 dollars last week, seemed like a nice guy.  he said he'll send me 3 million back and told me to go ahead and start shopping for a new house.  i already put a downpayment of 100,000 on a mansion.  that was my kid's college education money, but i should get this money back by the end of the week.

p.s. if you guys need anything, i'll give you money or whatever as soon as i hear back from this South African gentleman.

its a variation of a Nigerian 419 scam.    they promise you riches, but then things come up and they need you to send money for some legal fees.  they get your banking info hoping to clean out your account.  worse case, they need you to fly over to sign some papers and then they hold you for ransom.

Hey - this is wierd 'cause I too recently sent my bank details & personal details (passport, drivers license etc.) to a very nice Nigerian gentleman who's the nephew of Mr Umbongo Fukutoo who had squirrelled off $500,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 dollars from his countries bank accounts by collecting money lost by rounding errors made by their Cray supercomputers which are apparently not very good with 2 decimal places.

Although Mr Wogabogaloo hasn't yet gotten back in touch with me, I know he will soon, which will be a relief as some cnut has stolen my id, cleared my bank out & maxed out all my credit cards as well as making some dumb posts on internet forums which do not reflect my obviously vast intellect.

In the meantime, i eagerly await my new found fortune from my new found friend.

I was actually mailed $7000 in money orders out of nowhere....the letter inside said to cash them in and keep $2000 for myself and wire the rest to an account.....This was before I had heard of the scam.....I then did some research online and found out that these money orders were likely counterfeit and trying to cash them would get you busted as well.

When Tunisians spam me I always end up falling for their scams and wiring them money. I'm taken in primarily because they always address me as "Beloved".

CONFIDENTIAL BUSINESS PROPOSAL

Dear Mr. American,

Good day and compliments.

I am HENRI PAULSON, the Ministry of the Treasury of the Republic of America, and the personal financial adviser to GEORGE W. BUSH (the eldest son of the former dictator of America, GENERAL GEORGE HUSSEIN WALKER BUSH).

This letter will definitely come to you as a huge surprise, but I implore you to take the time to go through it carefully as the decision you make will go off a long way to determine the future and continued existence of the entire members of my country.

It is with deep sense of purpose and utmost sincerity that I have the privilege to write you this letter knowing full well how you will feel as regards to receiving a mail from somebody you have not met or seen before. There is no need to fear, I got your address from a Wall Street business directory which lends credence to my humble belief. I also assure you of my honesty and trustworthiness. I need to ask you to support an urgent secret business relationship with a transfer of funds of great magnitude.

During the last Military Regime here in America, the Government officials set up companies and awarded themselves contracts which were grossly over-invoiced in various ministries. My country has had great crisis that has caused the need for large transfer of funds of US$800,000,000,000.00 (eight hundred billion US dollars) in cash for safe-keeping. If you would assist me in this transfer, it would be of most profitable for you.

I am working with the honourable MR. PHIL GRAMM, lobbyist for UBS, who will be my replacement as Ministry of the Treasury in January. As Senator, you may know him as leader of the American banking deregulation movement in the 1990s.

This is a matter of great urgence. We need a immediate blank cheque. We need the funds as quickly as possible. We cannot directly transfer these funds in the names of our close friends because as civil servants we are constantly under surveillance by Democratic members of Congress, the media, and the American public. My family lawyer, MR. RICK DAVIS, advised me that I should look for a reliable and trustworthy person who will act as a next of kin so the funds can be transferred.

Please note that this transaction is 100% safe and we hope to commence the transfer latest seven (7) banking days from the date of the receipt of the following information: all of your bank account, IRA and college fund account numbers and those of your children and grandchildren to wallstreetbailout@treasury.gov so that we may transfer your commission for this transaction. This way we will use your country's name to apply for payment in your name. After I receive that information, I will respond with detailed information about safeguards that will be used to protect the funds. That's all. Let me know what you think about this.

We are looking forward to doing this business with you and solicit your confidentiality in this transaction.

May Our Lord show you mercy as you do so?

Your faithfully,

Dr. Minister of Treasury Paulson

Emmortal
