Prominent Clinton backer and DNC member to endorse McCain
Posted: 10:07 PM ET

From CNN Political Editor Mark Preston, Extra

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Lynn Forester de Rothschild, a prominent Hillary Clinton supporter and member of the Democratic National Committee’s Platform Committee, will endorse John McCain for president on Wednesday, her spokesman tells CNN.

The announcement will take place at a news conference on Capitol Hill, just blocks away from the DNC headquarters. Forester will “campaign and help him through the election,” the spokesman said of her plans to help the Republican presidential nominee.

Forester was a major donor for Clinton earning her the title as a Hillraiser for helping to raise at least $100,000 for the New York Democratic senator’s failed presidential bid.

In an interview with CNN this summer, Forester did not hide her distaste for eventual Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

“This is a hard decision for me personally because frankly I don't like him,” she said of Obama in an interview with CNN’s Joe Johns. “I feel like he is an elitist. I feel like he has not given me reason to trust him.”

Forester is the CEO of EL Rothschild, a holding company with businesses around the world. She is married to international banker Sir Evelyn de Rothschild. Forester is a member of the DNC’s Democrats Abroad chapter and splits her time living in London and New York.

Good for McCain...I'd be interested to know why. Is it because of Palin, is it because she hates Obama, is it because she always liked McCain, or is it that many important dems are havinga real problme with Obama and his tanking campaign.

I'd just take her at her word:  “This is a hard decision for me personally because frankly I don't like him,” she said of Obama in an interview with CNN’s Joe Johns. “I feel like he is an elitist. I feel like he has not given me reason to trust him.”

Meanwhile, 4 major women groups have endorsed Obama.

1 vote of Lynn < votes of many members of 4 womens group.

These women groups have not endorsed a candidate since the Mondale ticket.

Yet, McCain has had a huge boost in support among women.

It always cracks me up to hear rich white people call Obama an elitist.

Yet, it fading.

The plan for Palin to carpetbag her way into those 18 million votes that Hillary collected goes further down the drain day by day.

The media coverage is fading, she was not going to ever drive McCain to 30 point leads. He needed to solidify the base, increase funds, scrape off Hil/women votes, erase the Obama DNC bounce...mission accomplished. Now we wait for the debates.

HA!  Good reasoning.  Straight, honest, to the point. ;)
No way to twist those words.

What plan would that be? No one stated that Palin would get 18 million voters from the Hilary camp. With that said, McCain has drawn a significant number of women voters, particularly within the independent ranks, as well as energizing the conservative female vote.

Conservative votes aren't going to determine the election.  Moderate voters are.

And she hasn't captured enough, if any of those.

Are the women's groups liberal?  Many organized political women's groups are.  The cool thing is that we are seeing more independent and traditionally conservative women speaking up since Palin was nominated...probably because they see themselves having commonalities with her.
I don't like loudmouth, ultra-liberal feminists but I love strong successful women who don't follow the traditional feminist line.

Actually it's independents who will likely decide the election.  Independents can be liberal and conservative.
