If they'd taken the word "bodybuilder" out the first sentence then it would read just like any other story of domestic violence - I don't see what bodybuilding has to do with it. The guy says carb-depletion in defence but that's bollocks - I've been carb-depleted before and I haven't had the energy to lift a finger let alone beat the shit out of some random girl in a club - the guy's a moron if you ask me.
It isn't domestic violence when the guy and girl have no connection or relationship. What bodybuilding has to do with it is the guy's claimed defense was that, as a bodybuilder, he was carb-depleted and so the alcohol effected him more than it would someone else.
I agree with you and others though...doubt his carb-depletion or possible steroid use had anything to do with his actions. He is just an asshole that can't hold his liquor and can't handle being rejected.
Wonder if the girl will sue him for damages? In the U.S., you could take it as a given that she would sue the guy and then sue the bar for not protecting her from the asshole.
