Who Should I Start (Fantasy Football)?
« on: September 18, 2008, 02:19:49 PM »
Have the Titans D and they have been great the first two weeks.  They host the Texans on Sunday.

I picked up the Pats D too.  They host Miami, which has a pretty bad offense.

Should I stick with the Titans or start the Pats?

Start the pats D. Belichick cooked up every defensive scheme Parcels ever won anything with. Parcels is a HOF talent finder and coach, but Belichick was behind the x's and o's IMO.

Flip a coin.

The Titans offense is better than Miami's, and have a decent running game compared to the Pat's offense. But both D's should dominate.

Thanks for the feedback.  Some additional info:

Titans D is no. 1 overall through two games, scoring 46 points (NFL.com league).

Pats D is no. 10 overall, scoring 26 points.

That's why I'm struggling a bit.  I know the Pats have a better match up, but it's hard to ignore what the Titans have done their first two games.

Pennington's a better QB then Schaub, but Schaub has more weapons (Johnson and Walters and Daniels). However, the running game isn't one of them. If it was cold weather, I would definitely go with the Pats at home.

Both front three for both D's are ferocious.

Pats D in a landslide. Their front seven is as good as any in the league. Secondary is a little suspect and they will be tested against a strong passing game. But not this week. Miami doesn't have a strong passing attack by any means.

I would take the pats D based on Porters comments alone.....they live for that type of shit.

O Rly?  The Titans scored 25 and 21 points the past two weeks.  They scored more points than all but 5 FF players through two games.

Do you play?

It's a coin flip.  Which type of owner are you - play the hot hand or play the matchup?

I've been starting the Pats D in my CBS money league, but then again, I don't have the Titans D.

This is always the dilemma with Fantasy and Defense.  All draft boards suggest either drafting a D last, or even waiting until waivers, but, every week, the D play a huge factor in scoring.

I drafted a D a little higher than normal this year, since I didn't see anything special in the really late rounds.

To stay on topic, who should I start at QB:   Rogers against Dallas, or McNabb against Pittsburgh?

Did you call into a sports talkshow yesterday with this same question?

You can't pass up the Patriots' D.

I would go with Rodgers against the Dallas D. He played well against the Cowboys last year when Favre got hurt. Also, the Cowboys D gave up 37 points to the Eagles last week. I don't see Mcnabb lighting it up agains the Steelers D.

Rodgers looks to be on a roll so I would stick with him.

It's all about the matchups.

Thanks, Guts.  That's where I was leaning.  It's just hard to not start McNabb with the way the Eagles offense looks so far.

I'm a pretty conservative owner.  I usually stick to the "start your studs" viewpoint.  Barring injury, I don't often make major lineup changes, don't trade very often, etc.  I did just pick up Harrison off waivers and dropped Cassell.   :)

I drafted the Titans D and expect to start them for the rest of the season.  I'm only having this dilemma because I picked up NE specifically for this Miami game, but didn't expect the Titans to be so good through the first two weeks.

I never draft defenses early because they are such a crapshoot at the start of the season.

Tough choice at QB.  I don't think you go wrong with either one, but I'd give the edge to Rodgers.  Hasn't thrown a pick the first two games.
