1) Highest placing International /or second Overall/ IFBB professional at the 2007 Mr. Olympia ( 13th place finisher Hidetada Yamagishi was second highest Mr. Olympia 2007 Under 202 lbs competitor, behind Dave Henry from US - who finished 10th...both beating numerous great IFBB professionals along the way - including multiple IFBB pro champions...)


Completely irrelevant to the discussion...last year was last year, and has no bearing unles you are in the top 6 of the Olympia

2) Highest placing Under 202 lbs professional competitor at 2008 Atlantic City Pro Invitational last weekend (placing 8th Overall - repeating what winner of Under 202 lbs 2008 Europa IFBB PRO Supershow champion Flex Lewis did weeks ago - placing 8th Overall after receiving 1st place award for his "Under 202 victory")


There was no 202 class at the AC Pro, so there was no "repeat" of anything


3) Entered record number of IFBB pro shows in 2006/2007 and signed up to do the same in 2008...
While waiting for his US visa to be approved Hide signed to enter Under 202 lbs shows (all held in US) - which he had to pass due to "Immigration delay"...


Again...irelevant to the situation

4) As soon as his VISA was approved he came to US and entered the only remaining show (Atlantic City)...and managed to beat every Under 202 competitor out of 54 that have entered the show - BUT...Atlantic City contrary to previous 5 shows DIDN'T HAVE 202 class (WHY EXACTLY?)...


Because the promoter chose not to have one, and decided to have a Masters show....the IFBB doesn't dictate what the promoters chose to pay for.

So WHAT DO WE HAVE:

We have a top Olympia competitor (top 2 under 202 lbs Mr. Olympia 2007 competitor - considered 2nd best IFBB professional competitor for the year 2007 - IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!) who WAS NOT ABLE to Enter the US on time - and therefore MISSED opportunity to Enter any of Under 202 lbs Olympia Showdown qualifying shows...EVEN THOUGH he desperately tried...

Simply - he was denied a visa - just long enough to miss all the qualifying shows...


Which is a problem he had with the courts, not the IFBB. The IFBB didn't revoke his VISA, nor did they take any stance or action stemming from his issues with the law...he was never suspended or fined.


ONE WEEK LATER - he managed to come to US and challenge the field of ALL IFBB professionals willing to participate at the Atlantic City show - and he easily (not at his best I might add) BEAT every under 202 lbs IFBB professional competing that day (again - it was huge field - 54 competitors from all around the world)...



Again irrelevant as there WAS NO 202 SHOW


He also checked at the IFBB website THE RULES about the upcoming 2008 Olympia weekend Under 202 lbs Showdown competition - and found that PROMOTER of the show is able to SPECIALLY INVITE - ONE more competitor - and he immediately made a call....

He is still waiting for the invitation...with rumors that - HE WILL NOT BE INVITED as IFBB officials believe that would NOT BE FAIR to all other IFBB professionals who had to enter qualifying shows???

Not a rumor...there will be no invitation as there is no reason he would receive one. Bottom line is, the onus is up to the athlete to show up and compete.

Supposedly - every competitor that didn't make the cut - would have something to say...?


Now - my answer to IFBB officials and IFBB pro athlete rep was...and still is:

Every other IFBB competitor HAD a chance to enter those shows - except Hide.

Hide is the ONLY ONE without that FAIR CHANCE and for that reason he believes he should be considered for "special invitation" athlete...


Hide had a chance as well...all he had to do was get his legal affairs in order....nothing to do with the federation. ANY competitor could use a similiar excuse...my flight was canceled, my wife said no, I ran out of gas on the way to the show....you either show up, or you dont.


It is easy to see why he is THE MOST QUALIFIED and THE MOST DESERVING IFBB pro athlete to receive the invitation...

Besides - even in Mr. Olympia competition there is the rule that SECOND PLACING competitor (first runner up) should be automatically qualified to enter Mr. Olympia competition FOR TWO CONSECUTIVE YEARS...

The winner of the Mr. Olympia isn't qualified for two years much less the runner up...not sure where that rule is. Top 6 automatically requalify


Second placing Under 202 lbs 2007 Mr. Olympia finisher - Mr. Hidetada Yamagishi SHOULD BE QUALIFIED by the virtue of his 2007 Mr. Olympia placing ALONE - without mentioning ANYTHING ELSE...but FOR SOME REASON (?!?!?!?!?!) he would be denied a chance to compete?

Not "for SOME reason"...for a very good reason. HE FAILED TO PLACE IN THE TOP 5 OF ANY 202 SHOW THIS YEAR...PERIOD. THERE WAS NO 202 OLYMPIA LAST YEAR



And Mr. Olympia SHOULD BE COMPETITION FOR THE BEST BODYBUILDERS IN THE WORLD...yet promoter of the show DOESN'T seem to realize it???


He does realize that, and has a system of qualifying throught the year by placing in a top 3, or top 5 at the IM/ ASC...or top 5 for the 202 shows...NONE of which Hide did.

Bob, athletes rep - where are you when Japanese athlete needs you?

Right here, preserving the integrity of the qualifying system for ALL the athletes...there is no merit to this request, or grounds for consideration.
Oh, maybe you are at the show - right about now...seeing Hide on the stage...?

Sorry bro....this would wouldn't be fair to the other athletes and would undermine the entire due process of qualifying, much as I would like to see Hide back on the Olympia stage, he needs to do it the old fashioned way.....and earn it like EVERY OTHER athlete managed to do.

On a side note.......Why is MetRx now the official gym of Flex Magazine?? I spoke to Chris Lund last week and while he didn't go into detail, he did say he would never step foot in Koloseum again. I was also told by a former employee of yours that most of the pros now won't go there because they said there was just too much drama and they had a hard time concentrating when getting ready for shows.

He had a rough start to the year, but in terms of worldwide fan attention, I say why not let the guy enter?

Yes, he got in trouble, but so did Vic martinez, and he still has millions of fans in the USA who would prefer to see him in the Olympia.

Japan has 128 million citizens.  That's an awesome fan base.  See the way the NBA exploded worldwide with players like China's yao Ming?  Why not give bodybuilding that worldwide exposure by letting a Japanese bodybuilder take the stage for the first time at the O?

I understand politics, etc.  But what about growing the fan base of the sport?  There are millions of young japanese kids who mess around with weights - - but Hideo is the first high profile Japanese bodyubilder on the IFBB stage they can see in magazines and look up to, just like we looked up to Ronnie and Dorian, Haney and Arnold when we were kids.

It's a good business move.  He is a legit threat at 202, and he represents a country of 128 million who have a lot of money and are very tech-saavy... that's a lot of kids who could be tuning into the webcast and wondering what supplements they need to gain some size and look better.

I don't get a vote, but if I did, I've vote for worldwide growth of the sport - Invite Hide.

Last year - when I trained him?

Rumor is that MetRx gym is about to close and few members already approached me with "great secret nobody suppose to know - or talk about" /something I've herd from dozens of people already/ asked me if I would consider letting MetRx gym members in my gym for discounted membership rates...

My answer was: membership is FREE if they try my GIANT SETS...or convince "The Coach or The insulin gut without ever using insulin?" to find some courage to show up in Koloseum and show me what the true athlete is all about ;

Other than that - YES - it is true that IFBB pro athletes are better off NOT being associated with me - in any shape or form...IF they want to place decent in any of the upcoming IFBB pro shows...

NO - I don't think for a second that Chris Lund would say such a thing as we are friends for more than 2 decades...I understand the reason WHY he had to leave...but I also hope he understand WHY I didn't want to just simply APOLOGIZE to someone and with that - end all of my problems, my misery, my IFBB suspension...and save my 15-year [old/long] lasting Weider endorsement contract (my livelihood at the time)...

And as FAITH sometimes works wonders my dear Coach...(sorry, I meant THE Coach!) can you imagine rather strange scenario that "someone" (like me ) becomes the Club MetRx Gym co-owner...and within just short few years I also become (pssssst - don't say a word to anyone) someone "super" important and "extremely" involved in certain publication as well as Federation...

Well Chick...back in a day when I was Olympia competitor...back in the 90's (more I think - I can't think that far back anymore...?) Mr. Olympia winner WAS qualified FOR A LIFETIME - and second place finisher would be qualified for the next two years...

And you can check that with some people in the office...

Irrelevant - IF YOU DON'T KEEP IN MIND what Olympia is (let me remind you - PINNACLE of our sport...BEST OF THE BEST!) - or maybe it is best of the rest (those who could have a chance to qualify...as AGAIN - Hidetada Yamagishi IS THE ONLY ONE WHO WAS DENIED THAT CHANCE...yet by a simple virtue of his placing at the LAST SHOW in the 2007 (Mr. Olympia) and the last show in 2008 (Atlantic City) - to emphasize HOW RELEVANT is my statement under #1 - he is still NUMERO UNO or at least numero dos...if you know what I mean...?
