Steve Reeves claimed to take a concoction of lemon juice, honey and water during and after his workouts. Sounds like a good precursor to gatorade and other drinks designed to replenish your electrolytes.

Yeah Steve Had a increadible Physquie, and came along 20-30yrs too early, with his Physquie, looks, well spoken etc...he would of done well i feel in the 1970s-1980s with Film roles that would of actually paid him alot of Money with a whole lot more exsposure etc than Steve ever got from acting in those films he was in in the 1950s etc...

I believe Steve is 36 in that pic hard to believe the guy retired at the age of just 24 due the fact he reached the top of the sport , needless to say I doubt we seen the best physique Reeves could have displayed

This is true ND Steve retiring @ 24 was far from his Physical prime, i still rate Steve's overall structure, balance and skeletal structure right up there to this day and felt he was 20-30 yrs early in terms of film megabucks, BB "supplements," mainstream appeal etc,

Imagine what he could have looked like if he had trained hard year round til age 28 like Arnold did. I like Reeves approach to training, a lot of intensity ala Mentzer at tines.

Reeves is about as fine as a specimen geneticall you can get. He trained great, ate great etc. But in the end it was his mom and dad that made his physique. Genetics really is the most important thing. Not the only thing but the most important. Most guys will never admit that as if it means their worth less or work less hard etc.

Honey was a big thing years ago. Even track athletes used it, back in the day. Some BB'ers like to chew the honey comb. Eating dates, sometimes mixed with honey, was also popular before, and even during, workouts. The combo of peanut butter, banana & honey (on whole wheat bread) could be in their diets. Good luck.

Somewhere i still have an issue of Ironman from the 90's that has a big article where Grimek,Reeves, and Oliva all talk training nutrition etc,and at the end Bill Pearl and George Turner give their observations about those legends. Interesting for sure...

when you look at Steeve reeves shape and lat width tapering down to a tiny waist then you know he was a genetic superior. I think too his legs were not bad for the time he trained.

I'd love to see a current pro BB do perfection in the clouds to see how they'd compare. Can you imagine Branch Warren doing that pose? It'd be like a bloated gnome in the clouds.
