Insulin does alot more than bloat and contribute to glycogen stores though.

Insulin = anti catabolic

Steroids = anabolic

Combine the two for real muscle growth..

Im just wondering how he thinks it ruins physiques.. Personally I think gh(igf) is responsible for the distended abdomens. The other issues with today's physiques are lack of striations, detail, conditioning... maybe insulin is the culprit behind that? I dont know. Thats why im asking King.  :)

Its been around before 96 , I believe it all stated in 93, at the 95 Olympia I was with Achim and was asked to help with a "sick" bodybuilder on insulin.

I dunno, to say his face has aged 10 years is a bit of a stretch...

He's an Eastern euro, and he probably lives fast, and smokes alot so I would imagine alot of people his age look older than they are based on that simple fact.

 King I know this is a positive board and all but there is a rumor that has been out there for a while. The rumor is that when you were an up-and-coming pro and when you were the next big thing by placing super high in you early shows that you used to go to nightclubs and take shitloads of high powere Ecstasy. Is this true??

   P.S. This is a legit question, you should be honest

Noel Fuller:  I'm sure you are right but from my own personal experience, especially when I was working with Chad Nicholls it was not used in the offseason.. Just for loading before a show.. And don't forget, at that time Chad was also advising Ronnie, Nasser, Flex, Myself, Don Long, Tom Prince and I know for a fact that none of these men were on insulin until showtime.

polychronopolous:  The mans face does looked aged and don't forget he is only 29.. He looks 40.. Just my opinion. You are correct in the fact that he is a smoker.. I saw it at the Europa a couple years ago.

Polska_Sensation:  Ahhhhh, the good old days. The answer to your question is yes I partied like a rock star and had the time of my life. I could go down a list of the things I did and taking Ecstasy is at the bottom of that list. Threesoms, foursoms, orgies, 5 minute batroom stall relationships in the clubs, porn stars in Miami, etc... It was a wild time in my life and I survived. Nothing to hide here, it's all good.

The anabolic anti-catabolic has zero merit when it comes to this debate. In fact, I know of no real proof that insulin's role in muscle growth is due to it's anti-catabolic proterties if any. If you do have any type of proof or at least a sound theory please feel free to share it with us.

Imo insluin does NOT do much more than contribute to bloat and glycogen storage. I hear all the time about how when someone gets off of insulin they look and feel really flat. This is due to the fact that you are more bloated (mainly) and you are storing more glycogen. Insulin does help build muscle, just imo there are reasons which I do not have time to get into right now that I would either not use it or use it sparinly on and off thru out the year.

A welterweight from my gym got on insulin, he got up to 220 lbs (he is like 5'4). He looked huge and he wasn't fat.

he dieted down, and he was still a welterweight. (a pretty damn good welter tho  :o)

it was all bloat

Alot of times that happens to guys. They make gains every offseason yet ever year come showtime they weigh the same. Why? They use the same diet (same caloric intake) every year for their prep.

My guess is that he didnt increase his calorie level from his last shows prep to this shows prep.

That's right people.. Lopez was standing right next to me on just about every single one of those magical occasions. My favorite part was leaving the "club" at 4:00 PM Sunday after arriving at the club at 4:00 AM Saturday.. Ummm that's 12 hours of family fun and rounds of redbull for everyone ;). Like the movie, we owned the night and that's just about all that needs to be said. ;)

exactly, we are all entitled to our own opinions, and i respect Derek for that.

He did the same thing King did, and stated what he thinks is true. Nothing wrong with that!

Should start a good discussion/debate anyways.

i dont hate king at all. i like his bad ass attitude . i just dont think hes getting wright information from whoever is telling him he looks good. his mom,wife fans ?? come on i mean serious. king ill put 5 k on it thats 1k more then to just show up at a qualified o placing. that you will never place top 10 again. lets see

put your $$ were your mouth is and stop blaming the judges! its your physique they dont like not your personality or anything you did in your past. and please god dont pose your back side like ronnie coleman when you were such a good entertaining poser. go back to what go you famous being lean and ripped and  CONDITIONED and your great posing. not looking big and bloaded with a huge gut. and that last posing performance which was horrible. and dont say i cant dance etc etc. i use to dance for women for 5 years i know how to entertain and women will like you more posing like a your robotic cool ways then that shaking your ass like that performance. dude it was horrible.and i am not the only one that thinks so i have the balls to say it !

Robbie and I had some great times.. Even some shit that I would love to forget ;).. But hey, it was a learning experience and we did what we did.. Times change and we are now both on a separate path. It was a very sad day today. We both attended Steve Stone's funeral and I must say it was surreal. The church was packed and a lot of respect was given to a good man. Other than a few morons that came with tank tops and muscle shirts and some women that were there in outfits that were made for clubs and not a funeral it was a very classy farewell... Life is too short. Anyway, I got back on track tonight and blasted chest and triceps. I am pushing 288 lbs. so I think I will increase the cardio a bit to slow things down. My rebound is the best ever but I do not want to jump past 290.. That's too much to fast. More good news is coming from Jim and his Powder.. I think you all will soon benefit from his creation.. Just hang in tight I promise it will be worth it.

Once again goodbye Steve... You will be missed.. RIP.
