Well you can't win 'em all bro.  I like to think that an average looking guy should get dates with about 30% of the women they try for.  Obviously a lot less if your ugly a lot more if your good looking and know the game.  Either the way the only way to get them is to try, and you did.  The more often you try the easier it will become.  After I got divorced and before I got with my current girl I must have been asking girls out on dates almost every day.  Sometimes I'd get dates and sometimes I'd get laughed in my face.  But after a while the disses just roll off your back and they don't effect you anymore.  The whole "on to the next" attitude starts to take over.  Once that happens you start to get more girls.
