What will Jay's legacy be?
« on: September 28, 2008, 02:55:12 PM »
It's well known that Kerry wants children so I don't know if Jay will retire or take a break.  It was clear after last night, the judges want to move in another direction.

What will his legacy be?

He's won the Arnold Classic a number of times.
He was second in the Olympia four times and Mr. O twice.  In 06 he looked ok but not great and 07 being VERY shady.

It seems to me he wasted all his good years on battling Ronnie and when he finally won the big one, his physique was finished. :'(

Couldn't carry Ronnie's gym bag, and was awarded many gifts.

Sad thing is that Jay spend the prime of his career trying to beat Ronnie, then when Ronnie finally retire dJay's physique went down the drain. The insane being in 365 days a year caught up with him.

its really not much different than Franco's legacy.

he couldnt touch Arnold in his prime, but hung around long enough to win when he was gone.

Jay could never touch Ronnie's best, but Ronnie loves to compete, and has thus stayed active long after he was still competitive for the top spot.

thus, Jay did eventually beat Ronnie, but comparing Ronnie that year or last year to even the Ronnie of 2005 is not even close.

When i started reading the boards Jay had a Wolf like following and Coleman was hated. Noone went nuts about Dorian. Haney was still a big fav as was Shawn Ray and Dillet.

Gunter was also a golden boy...how things have changed

I think he will be seen as having been a very consistent, hard worker and very good business man; a very professional bodybuilder.  I'm not aware of the first enemy Jay has ever had.  He's even remained friends with Dexter through all this, which I think is pretty significant...I don't think you could really make an enemy out of Jay if you tried.  Not to mention, the guy that may have given him his biggest run last night, he's had living in his pool house.

He will go down as one of the greatest of all time.  Regardless of what people say.  Jay is the guy that needs the chase.  He chased Ronnie for years and once he caught him there wasnt as much drive.

I think he will give it one more serious go next year..now that he has a challenge back in his life.

If he doesn't get it back next year then the Cutler era and possibly the big man era could be over

If Wolf ever pulls it off watch them all change their tunes once again. People like to see those on top fail, it's human nature

Jay should go ahead and plan to do the 2009 Arnold.  If he can win that again, it would bring him back some cache leading into the 2009 Olympia.  It would also make up financially for the money he lost out on in this Olympia.

If he loses the Arnold, then it may help him to regain some fire to get to his 2001 Olympia conditioning that he was supposed to achieve this year.

Still, don't know that even a 2001 Jay can beat some of the up-and-comers like Wolf, Heath and Martinez if they dial in their conditioning.

Kid's got potential. And with this Kerry in his corner, he can go all the way.

Great bodybuilder. Great family man. In bed by 10pm every night. He moved to Vegas not for the exciting night life and atmosphere but because of the schools for his children...Took Phil Heath under his wing and we all know what an awesome person Phil Heath is...

True

They are like bodybuilding's powercouple, just like Craig Titus and Kelly, hope both couples go places in the bodybuilding-scene.

The Sky's the limit!

Would be great seeing them in a side by side comparison on stage before either of them wins the Olympia.
