To get into the next "set"?

You know these tools who workout exactly 45,764125712374682t34182371 minutes, drink 1,2348732480184 litres of water during and wait for 30,32482721471234562142983041238476473624982348263464 seconds to get into the next set or else they will "spare" 2,342134234234 lbs of their "fat-free" musclemass?

Father son duo come in do that, 30mins absolute tops. They had a leg chest workout on sat.

The dad is in good shape. Reps out 80's on the flat DB press. One day though ill bump up to 105's...pretty nice negative. That was it

My leg and chest w/o are typically an hour each. Than I do 20 to 30 minutes of cardio 4x's a week. And these 15 minute slobs wonder why they look the way they do.

i use a watch and make sure i rest 2 mins inbetween sets, you got a problem with that twink?

Ide rather be looking at my watch then staring at other guys working out like the Topic starter probably does.

most guys in my gym use a notepad and pen because it's hard to remember whether they got 10 reps instead of 11 on a particular exercise

I'm not checking my watch anymore or writing in a notebook from now on, because I might be considered unKOOL and not fit in.

I dont see how people struggle to remember their workouts. Unless you train to failure every set and the reps might be hard to remember.

Good catch.

I'll be flaring my imaginary lats & staring down the dumbbell rack in the time I used to check my watch.

i just don't understand why it is important to know whether you got 10 or 11 reps on a particular exercise

if it's important shouldn't you be able to remember?

I time my sets every few training cycles when I need to be more efficient than usual, i.e. if I'm doing many exercises and many sets in the workout. You get really pressed for time if you want your workout to be done in less than an hour and fifteen minutes, especially if you're doing full-body or Upper/Lower-body sessions.

But if you're just doing a regular bodypart split a la Chest/biceps, Back/triceps, etc you don't really need to time your workouts as an hour is PLENTY of time to thoroughly stimulate those muscles.

I still fail to see how all this bothers you though  ;D

whatever works, works.

for me...i trainhowever i feel like training. if i want to lift heavy ill lift heavy. if i want a pump set ill do a pump set and if i want to rest 5 minutes inbetween a set then ill rest 5 minutes in between a set. sometimes ill want to workout for 2 hours sometimes after 20mins ill feel tired and worn out so ill leave.

If I had such an awsome memory like you guys, I wouldnt bother writing down the weight and number of reps for every exercise, but I dont, so I guess I'm unKOOL and not "with it" and dont "fit in" .
If you train to failure its pretty important I recon that you know how much you did last time to push urself past it the next time.

Trianing to failure is daft,
