Johnny Jackson, aka Johnny J -- famous for such albums as Tupac Shakur's "All Eyez on Me" -- was in L.A. County Jail after getting arrested for DUI. Authorities say he took his own life by jumping off a tier in the jail.

Johnny Jackson, aka Johnny “J”, committed suicide in the Los Angeles County Jail on Oct. 3. Johnny Jackson was a songwriter, music producer and ex rapper. Johnny Jackson’s lyrics made him a multi-platinum winner.

Johnny Jackson was arrested and remanded in jail for a DUI charge. Jackson was said to have committed suicide by jumping off a tier in the jail. Jackson died on the night of Oct. 3.

Johnny Jackson was famous for his work on Tupac Shakur’s albums; “All Eyez on Me” and “Me Against the World.” Johnny J was born in Juarez, Mexico, in 1969. Johnny J had adopted parents. Johnny Jackson grew up with a father who is African American and a mother who is Mexican-American. Johnny J grew to become a great hip hop artiste and producer. Jackson had his company named Klock Work Entertainment.

Johnny Jackson is survived by his wife and two kids. We offer condolences and prayers to the family and friends of Johnny Jackson. May Johnny J rest in peace.

That's actually a common suicide with DUI arrestees.  When I was working at the Greenville County Detention Center, I responded to suicide call where the guy jumped off the tier in the holding cell.  Its not a pretty site to see because they usually drop head first.

Since then we've been literally joined at the hip and its the only reason I moved from Greenville, SC.  He doesn't cry for his mommy but I do enjoy holding him every single night.
