When did "Liberal" become a dirty word?
« on: October 10, 2008, 06:40:31 PM »
Fox News, fair and balanced as it is, claims that liberal is a dirty word.  If it weren't for liberals, there would still be separate but equal, we would still be in the Great Depression of 1929, women couldn't vote, slavery would still exist in the U.S., there would be only one religion, we would still be in the Dark Ages, the world would still be flat, and the sun would still revolve around the earth.  What else did I leave out?

You left out the fact that liberals want all the hard workers to give them everything so they can lay back smoke a dubbie and waste away.
Liberals create socialist programs in guise to help others when in reality they create a government bureaucracy filled with overeducated assholes pushing pencils and accomplishing jack-shit. I could accomplish the same thing with a dirty magazine and, some lube.

Well Lincoln was the first Republican and the South was Democrat so I guess that means the Liberal Democrats fought for slavery while the Republicans fought to end it.

Weird.

Fox News, "fair & balanced", is just another news platform, which gives false information to the masses. People need to start thinking for themselves, and stop believing everything the media tells them.

Probably sometime after Kennedy's conservative Inaugural Address in '61.

After a Democratic senator defined it as "meeting the material needs of the masses through the full power of centralized government" and Reagan bailed ('62), saying the party left him.

After the social/academic radicals of the '60s/'70s changed MLK's dream of equal opportunity to a demand for equal results, and Jesse changed opportunity to opportunism.

After the lunatics started running the asylum.

Probably sometime after the '60s?

I've yet to meet an honest union member who ever needed his/her union. Or one who isn't disgusted by the member who does (ALWAYS a selfish, lazy, incompetent malcontent) and embarrassed by his/her grievance. Never met one whose union rep isn't ALWAYS the least productive employee. And I keep asking.

Why do many FORCE you to join? Such a wonderfully helpful organization - we should be begging to get in, no? Opt out, they take your dues anyway.

Back to the bad word: Democrats were liberal when Jackie Robinson and the Norma Raes of America really needed them. Modern day Liberals, though, need Jackie and Norma more. They don't fix problems; they create them.

Modern Liberalism is about excuses, blame, and entitlement; everything historic liberals fought against.

People in the Conservative Category: Uneducated, White Trash, Bible Thumpers, Racists, Christian Fundamentalists,

People who are Liberal: Educated, Common Sense, Work Smart, Religious but do not force their religion upon Laws of the land, friendly to all races etc..

Conservatives = Bush and Palin   C student and 841 on SATs

Liberals = Obama & Bill Clinton      Top of their class at Oxford and Harvard

Catch my drift?

Yep, and it's just as pointless as it was the last time. Who cares about where they got their degrees? It's what they've done with what they've achieved that matter. Bush got elected president twice. Palin became the first female governor of Alaska and mayor of her hometown twice. She has shot up the political ladder, faster than many of these so-called "smart" contemporaries of hers (in both parties).

Your stereotype of liberals and conservaties is as ignorant and foolish as it is inaccurate.

Perhaps you missed a certain CNN poll done in 2004, regarding Bush and Kerry voters, in which Kerry carried the overwhelming number of folks with at least a master's degree BUT also carried the overwhelming number of people WHO DID NOT HAVE a high school diploma.

People who are Liberal: Common Sense

In 2008, please explain how common sense applies to Affirmative Action, welfare and its bastard offspring, legal rights/documentation/social services to illegal residents, and lowering "culturally insensitive" educational standards (that curiously don't hinder our culturally-challenged Asian immigrants) to ensure an increasingly stupider people.

Common sense tells me a legally registered firearm will protect the family from a somewhat less law-abiding armed intruder/assailant. Yours says a kid in Tennessee took one to school three years ago, so, no.

Common sense is believing what you see, not seeing what you believe. In fact, isn't that exactly what it's NOT?

I'll grant you educated, meaning "graduated college," but universities provide anything but common sense. Another debate altogether. Education and common sense are different animals.

For instance, The True Adonis seems educated ...

Your drift is misleading.  You didn’t mention Biden's academic performance and plagiarism.

But who cares?
