Ask Chicerillo about John Defendis knocking him out in 88

Ask big Chic about the 88 USA in Vegas. Chic got in Defendis's face after Defendis won the heavies and the overall. Defendis ,known for his temper and Long Island asshole attitude, listened to just a few seconds of Chics bellyaching about the placings and proceeded to open palm slap Chic across the jaw, knocking Chic out cold for a brief moment. The altercation was quickly intervened and subdued by the giant heavyweight from Jersey, Johnnie Morant. hey Chic.....did you and Defendis ever sort thaat shit out?

Defendis 1988 Mr USA

Pro but never competed.  used to have a yahoo or whatever group back in 1997-1998.  Sold some defendis vitamin packs.  high volume trainer.  big as a bear but denied gear 100% on he and clients.  I think he's in west palm beach.  nice guy, good advice, lots of fans.

He actually did compete once in the pros. It was the 89 night of champions. he took like 17th place. He looked like shit. Too many guest posings he said. He got busted for gear soon afterward and did some time.

Phil Hernon says he never went to jail:

"The first two guys were not even pros, just gym guys with maybe big arms. John Defendis is doing very well in Florida running a personal training business. He never went to jail by the way.The other guys, all with great physiques, just decided it was time to go on with a normal life. "

Chick is a lover, not a fighter.  Defendis was probably pissed that his woman wanted (or actually was a piece for) Bob C.

Bob C is one of the nicest guys in bodybuilding.  He's doesn't seem like the confrontational type.

Defendis took over Coop's Gym in Greenville 2 years ago so I was able to chat with him for a bit.  Talked a lot about the old days.

Coop's was litterally a bird's nest that had not been cleaned out and the staff was some shitty untrained personnel.  He fired just about everyone and turned that hole in the wall in a very respectable gym

 yes i worked for John for a couple of years ....John is the one who hired me(while still in Masschusetts), and him and his wife Sherry trained me when i got down here to Florida (nice guy i got nothing bad to say about him)

John still runs PT here and in South Carolina.............

there was a piece on him in Musclemag maybe 5 years ago and it had some pics of him supersetting deep 7 plate hack squats with some heavy ass leg presses, dude trains extremely hard even to this day.
