Democrats' possible aid plan could include tax rebate, food stamps funds, jobless benefits

WASHINGTON (AP) -- After consulting with Barack Obama, Democratic leaders are likely to call Congress back to work after the election in hopes of passing legislation that would include extended jobless benefits, money for food stamps and possibly a tax rebate, officials said Saturday.
The bill's total cost could reach $150 billion, these officials said.

The officials stressed that no final decisions have been made. They spoke on condition of anonymity, saying they did not want to pre-empt a formal announcement. House Democrats have announced plans for an economic forum on Monday "to help Congress develop an economic recovery plan that focuses on creating jobs and strengthening our economy."

Democrats said Obama's campaign has been involved in discussions on a possible stimulus package. The party's presidential candidate, running ahead in the polls, has outlined his own proposals for stimulating the economy.

Democrats are increasingly confident of capturing the White House and increasing their majorities in the House and Senate on Nov. 4.

Wow. ::)

Hey Einstein, millions of people have lost their jobs over the last several years. This will help the unemployed pay their rent and put food on the table for their families.

Have you seen Hussein talking to the plumper that asked him if he is gonna pay more taxes because he plans on investing in a business that make more than 250K a year, and Hussein said yes!!!

Like I said before and the idiots thought it meant only for individuals that make 250K or more, a 250K limit is TINY, almost every business make that much per year and this will slow down the economy allot! With what justification from Hussein? He said he want to spread that plumper success to others...gee...thanks  ::)

Hussein want to raise a nation of lazy people that ride other people....a communist nation that is.

Actually, businesses pay taxes only on profits... and only a tiny fraction of small businesses have NET PROFITS of more than 250k per year.

There is a cure for being misinformed you know... it's called "reading". Try it.

You seem to miss the fact that a profit is calculated after taxes, also even if you take in profit before taxes you will still end up with a huge majority of business.

...no. You don't understand the difference between "profit" and "after taxes profit".

The NET profit is calculated first and taxes are then charged on that to produce "after taxes profit".

The vast majority of small businesses (90+%) make NET profits LESS THAN 250k per annum.

You are again mistaking two different things... turnover and profit.
While it is true that most small businesses have a turnover of more than 250k... only a tiny minority makes net profits above 250k.

I guess it could be said that those who don't prefer the Obama tax plan just don't understand it. Maybe you Republican true believers are just fucken stupid.

Funny how you repeat what I say with different words, add an opinion and then decide it's all solid and backed by empirical proofs.

First I beleive you are very wrong about your estimate and I would love to see some hard numbers.

Second, most buisnesses that are to small to be affected by the tax increase have little employees, in the bottom line it will only hurt.

Not to mention all the new taxation on capital gain and his other plans.
