Ben Weider - Arnold Schwarzenegger statement
« on: October 20, 2008, 09:25:29 AM »
Among those who paid tribute to him were Mr. Schwarzenegger, who was an unknown muscle-man in Austria in the 1960s when Mr. Weider and his brother, Joe, plucked the teenager from obscurity.

“Ben Weider was one of the most amazing people I have ever known. He and his brother, Joe, grew up poor in Montreal, but through their vision, hard work and determination, became founding fathers of bodybuilding and the worldwide fitness revolution,” the California Governor said in a statement.

“Ben and Joe were like fathers to me, bringing me to America when I was a young man just making my way in the world. I never would have achieved the success I have enjoyed in life without them and they supported me in everything I have ever done.”

Did the policy makers in the audience agree with what the Canadian gentleman said about the Austrian guy?

As usual Franco would have to be the Vice President.

Arnold would likely be better than the two we pick from in this election.

Arnold as a moderate Republican would make a good president.  As he found out in California, dealing with a Democratic controlled house and assembly is very difficult to get things done, in order to balance out the California budget.  With the decrease in property taxes, sales taxes, gas taxes, 2008 and especially 2009 are going to be incredibly tough years for California.

Thanks to Grey David, back when California was doing well, for giing out lots of free healthcare, money to government pensions, huge raises so when the bad times came, we would be in trouble like we are, and have to cut important things like school budgets.

Arnold is the consummate politician. His words sound wonderful but don't say much at all. That is classic Arnold. He associated with people who could advance his career. He gives Ben and Joe recognition for contributions to bodybuilding but has no idea what to do about the status of Dianabol in California. Would Arnold be governor if he never used steroids?! We all know the answer.

The point is Arnold gave state recognition to Joe and Ben Weider. He appointed his mates to chiropractic committees. How hard would it be for Arnold, many times Mr Universe and Mr Olympia, to reverse the status of performance enhancing drugs for bodybuilders? I don't endorse their use but I don't think users should be put in jail. Arnold won't touch that issue with a 10 foot pole. Like John Balik said, 'Arnold doesn't have time for the old gang anymore'.

I see your call to the DEA went well, Vince. Back to complaining about how no one is doing something regarding BBers using steroids. Here's a hint - whining on GetBig won't help! ;)
