Phenom?
« on: October 22, 2008, 03:52:10 PM »
A guy I know boasts that he can do the following:

4.45 seconds 40 yard dash
715 lb squat
bench 225 x 25 reps
run a sustained 22 miles per hour
28 inch verticle jump
100 meter sprint under 11 seconds

5'7" 185 lbs...24 yrs old

How would you deal with the delusionalites?

He may be CLOSE to those numbers but actually at them would be hard. I'm no phenom but I know I was clocked doing over 22mph in a sprint and can rep 225x16 (my bench isn't a strong point). My squat before my knees started to hurt was 5 plates each side for 3 reps. My FLYING 40 was 3.7 and regular 40 was 4.4-7. Vertical? No clue. I did high jump but wasn't great at it. Only 6 foot without training. That sprint is the one that catches my eye. If he CAN do that sprint then he may be able to do all that since he would have the genetics for it. My best 100m was only low 12s :(. I'm 5'10 and all this was at around 175-180lbs. I knew a guy in HIGH school that could do those numbers (cept the squat). Dude was a myostatin deficient midget or something.

No, never seen any of it.

Deion Sanders ran 4.3 40 yd dash
715 squat???? Yeah right :o
Usain Bolt just shattered all olympic records was clocked avg speed 27 mph
225 for 25 reps...some NFL guys can't do that :-\
100 m sprint under 11 seconds...BULLSHIT :-X
28 in. verticle.....maybe :-\

I'm thinking you don't even think about claiming any of this BS unless you got a multi-million $ contract as an ALL Pro strong safety in the NFL...LOL

That vertical fits in with his other stats like a feminist fits in at an NRA meeting.

That's like following up a boast about your law degree with a polaroid of your GED.

40 yard times have to be the biggest BS going around.

if you can do a sub 4.5s 40 yard and cant do a 10 flat 100m then something's wrong.

does the clock start when you do?- its gotta be something like that as Usain Bolt et al would barely do a sub 4.5 40 yard.

and we all know that guy does a sub 9.7 100m.

world record for 180lb weight class for squat/bench/dealift is 905, 725, 793...so im not sure the john inzer comment applies.

the 225 x25 and 100m sub 11 id believe no problem.

hey, the guy who could do a low 12s 100m and a 4.4-4.7 40 yard- what'd you do, walk the final 65m?

this shows how BS those 40yd times are.

i did sub 11s 100s back in the day and would be happy for a high 4 something 40yd.

heres the 100m splits for beijing

40yd is about 36m, so bolt's doing a 4.3 or so.

a 10.5 runner will be at 4.6+.

if you did sub 11 back in the day you must have been a national level sprinter ...

did you run as an athlete ?

otherwise I'm calling BS as you probably are stating so to boost your credibility when stating your oppinion ...

john inzer was the standard back in the day ...suits have gotten a lot better ....
