I guess this graph says it all. Note: This person was voted into office TWICE by the American people.

A brilliant testament to the "we want a smaller government" crowd.

God, if they win the following election I'll shot myself.

While they had us worried out of our minds with "muslims" and other unexistant enemies these people were working 24/7 moving all manufacturing capacity to 3rd world countries and creating the biggest hole in the trade deficit since trade data was first recorded:

Vote republican people!!! They are the real patriots!!!

He did an excellent job defending our country and cleaning up the mess Clinton left us with.

Oh, and by the way, the first graph has not been corrected to include the 850 billion package he just signed.

Actually we need at least a decade of non-stop, uninterrupted surpluses in order to even begin to repay the deficit.

People have to realise that when a government has to spend more money than it's got it's really being lent to us by other countries, but the tab will always be handed to the American People and their children.

I don't understand those graphs make Carter look ok - so are these repubs lying or just deluded when they say Carter was crap?

Of course they're lying!! Carter wasn't even 1/8th as bad, from a fiscal point of view, as, for example, Ronald Reagan. Bush has just multiplied republican stupidity (which requires The People's passive acquiesence mind you!) tenfold.

We can honestly say that since Gore lost the presidential election because of what Clinton had done, Bill-O's blowjob has cost the American people well over a trillion dollars. Not counting that brilliant #### SCUMBAG Kenneth Starr spent on bringing the case to court, which was about ½ billion dollars. Which coould've better been spent on the... Katrina victims for example?

These are the kind of thing we're up against.

Seriously how can you ignore these facts and still vote for Mccain. Amazing how dumb certain people are. Plain dumb

I think that one of the biggest mistakes the Carter administration was not to open up the doors of the Fed to Big Business. That is the only thing I see him doing "wrong". The worst one, aside from fuckface Junior, was Reagan. He just opened up the floodgates while selling the "It's morning in America" bullshit story in all it's glory.

It's really sad how little we care for the future generations. The next time I hear someone say "children are our future" I'll respond with a "shut the fuck up!!".

No one can deny that Bush has been a spending whore but if you just take a look at Bush's Presidency you have to factor in what has happened...

1. 2001 Dotcom bubble/Wallstreet Scandals: Market went out of control on overspeculation and rapidly rising tech stocks then eventually plummeted. In addition you had numerous acts of fraud from high profile organizations such as Enron.

2. 911. Our market if based very much on percieved value and we took another huge hit in 2001 when the trade towers went down. This has a huge impact on our nation as well as our economy as we increased spending on national security within our borders and created a new cabinet to oversee our homeland security.

3. Afganistan/Iraq: Afganistan was a direct attack on those who purpotrated the attacks agaisnt us. This campaign was an lage expense, then you had the UN resolution that we followed up on to invade Iraq.

Now factor in these things and you can see how the surplus turned to shit. Through all of these crisis, this president has gotten us through with relatively little impact to our daily lives by yes.... spending a shit ton of money. What were the alternatives? This president has arguably faced more aversity than almost any other president in recent history.

Take a look at this latest crisis and you will see very few democrats agrue with his course of action these past few weeks.

I personlly hate his spending policies, but in the long run, I think W will be remember far better than we think today.

thanks buffgeek.  I agree he had some challenges, but it seems to me those challenges could have been handled much better.  And the pattern seems to stay intact with repub presidents spending like crazy.
