Egypt and South Africa would be interesting places to visit...

South Africa is a great spot to visit. Violent crime issues sure, but its not as bad as some perceive it to be. Cape Town is a lot of fun and the whole wine route makes for a great tour. Johannesburg is a bit of a hell hole, but if you stick to the fancier areas you will be just fine.

The Eastern Cape coast is awesome, miles and miles of desolate beaches with no people in site.

Otherwise Zanzibar is great, Mozambique is incredible and Botswana is also worth a visit.

I actually had all intentions of starting a thread on the political board asking this question tomorrow morning. What's everyone's opinion on Kenya? It's on the state department's travel warnings list but I gather it's from the civil unrest there and the terrorist attacks in the earlier part of this decade.

Also, what about Uganda or Tanzania?

Parts of Kenya are cool, Zambia and Namibia are pretty good too. South Africa is awsome but very dangerous, especially for foreigners who dont know their way around.

yeah...most beautiful city I have ever seen...it's rather different to a typical African city, like Lagos or Nairobi...more like the Mediterranean cities by climate and cleanness.

The new President at the moment is a ghost, we dont hear from him.
It is all about Zuma.
The ANC is also splitting in two, something that can only be good for this country.

Zuma is the present head of the ANC he has been implicated in corruption and fraud on a massive scale with arms deals, he escaped a rape charge as well (the alleged victim had to flee the country as well)
He is above the law basically.
Even though he still has a charge sheet a mile long that he must still appear in court for he wants to be the next president of South Africa.(The unit that was investigating him was disbanded as punishment)
 
The ANC is the ruling black party, they are also above the law, corrupt and guilty of massive power abuse.
And bassically even more racist than the ruling white party before them, the only difference now is the racists are black.
They have done enormous damage to the country mainly through arrogant fueled stupidity, corruption, fraud,nepotism and the initial looting mentality that carried on for many years after the 1994 elections

The ANC s biggest strength was black loyalty to the ANC party at all cost.

The party is busy splitting due to internal in fighting and power grabbing............... it can only be good.

3d grade education, etc....is normal for an average African president, nothing new or amazing here...the new guy is just his fellow party comrade, who now has an opportunity to capitalize on the directional split within the party
