Obama is more of Peace Corp kinda guy.

This is probably the single biggest reason why I support McCain over Obama.

Bill Clinton, arguably one of the best Presidents in the 20th century was not in the military either... Yet Bush was.

Doesn't that pretty much just destroy the "Must have Military Experience" portion?

Yes, at least walk the walk if you talk the talk, which is why I can grudingingly extend a peanut of respect to HH6, at least he isn't all talk.

I also love the irony of wanting to blow Arab people, women, babies etc to pieces but claiming to be "pro life" :-\

Presidents with military backgrounds do not have a sterling record as presidents.

Here's a graded list that looks at presidents with military experience/without military experience and how they handled military situations.
http://theredhunter.com/2004/08/presidents_and_military_experience.php

I think you'll find that you'd better select another criterion for choosing a presidential candidate.

It does not nccesarily matter if he had experience.....Kennedy did and almost got us nuked. Nixon did and he got us out of Vietnam....Reagan did not but defeated the Soviets...Clinton did not and got us involved in Bosnia with middling results and while he provided an economic boom he took bad advice from idoits like Albright and Christopher who are partly to blame for some of our current problems. I hate Obama because of his socialist policies, friends...lib background etc..nit because he didn't serve.

Arabs don't qualify as 'life' in that paradigm.

HH6 is good people. I disagree with his ass on damn near everything and think he may ride the short bus but the man has my respect and can usually articulate his positions better than most here.

I'm not saying the positions make sense, LOL!

Who did the “graded list” Decker?  Here are part of his qualifications:  "In the interests of full disclosure, I have never served in the military."

From a military standpoint, the decision is very easy for me.  McCain's military experience and judgment on military matters makes Obama look like a child.

McCain's age makes Moses look like a child... So what?

Again, I believe you can easily say that while Military experience may be interesting to put on a bullet item, it's hardly the biggest item on a Presidential resume.

I was hoping you'd ask that.  One of your own made that list.  For the love of god, he gave W a B.

The lack of respect for Arab's lives perturb me greatly, very sad. :-\

HH6, I actually like his military types posts and think he offers a great perspective and insight, even though I usually disagree with him ;D

Thats why I'm here...and since we're headed full tilt into the mess that is Afghanistan, u guys need to pay per post for trying to explain the unexplainable..... ;D

My worry is that instead of allowing an exceptable level of stupidity over there, which Repubs are willing to do, the extreme left will try and "fix" Afghanistan. There is no fixing that place.....I will do my best to serve my fellow getbiggers.

Never said it was the biggest item on the presidential resume, but it is one of the deciding factors for me in this election.

I have so many other things that I decide on that the idea that someone did or didn't have military experience is completely irrelevant.

So we shouldn't have gone there in the first place?

you want those muslims over there to stop hating us? all we need to do is stop supporting Israel unconditionally no matter what they do and they'll stop hating us, that's the real reason they hate the US.

No we need to stop fucking with them... leave people alone and worry about ourselves....

Hardly.  Not when when we're in the middle of two wars and there are hot spots in Georgia, Iran, and North Korea.

Let's break this down to reality.

1. Worthwhile war (Afghanistan) that the Commander in Chief with military experience basically abandoned to go to

2. A completely false war with absolutely nothing worthwhile about it (Iraq)

Sounds like that Military Experience really didn't do him all that well did it?

So again, I ask you why it's a top item for you, considering it hasn't really done anything for 8 years except fuck the US in the butt.

why would military experiance be one of the deciding factors for you when our economy is in horrible shape and unemployment/foreclosures are sky rocketing.  With no economy there is no money to fund our war on a country that never attacked us and never had WMDs.   I support a war on terror however that war is not in IRAQ

If we attacked Saudi Arabia, I'd be all afuckingbout it. Taking them out in Afghanistan and basically hunting the rest and the financiers wherever they were (and killing them brutally) would have been fine. I don't care if OBL is in the vatican having tea with his grandmother we should get him. I don't care where he is or who is with him that futhermucker has to be killed. Starting wars all over the place just doesn't make sense.
