I wouldn't listen to him if he presented a powerpoint presentation himself in my own front room. But I did catch a little exerpt of him mentioning raising taxes for people making $200k....wait, wasn't it $250k? Or no, wait again....was it $150k??

People have pretended or fooled themselves for years into believing race has little bearing on how they see the world. IMO, it's not really racism (except in extreme cases), just that people can't believe a black man could actually end up being president.

Maybe it's culture shock or something.

I don't believe McCain would have a snowball's chance in hell if Obama were white. Not due to their political differences but because race wouldn't be a significant negative for Obama. The economy is just so screwed up and the war will be going on for a long time.

I know one thing for sure.  I'm very happy that I can look at Obama and see the person, not the color and I feel sorry for those who are blinded by race and cannot see the person.

It was to start late so the end of the game would come at 10 for FOX local 10 EST news, and sure enough, last strikeout was 9:57

I agree the ad was a little dumbed down for the American idol viewers.  You KNOW they loved the stories - it spoke to them... teachers, retired couples, etc.  Very high quality ad.  But lame to the politically wise.  I think it was an emergency time slot, in case mccain was kicking his ass right now, so he'd have a platform to talk to voters and stop the damage.  

it's been a very well-run campaign.  We're hearing all sorts of stuff leak from mccain campaign (palin planning 2012, etc).  Love him or hate him - obama is running a very disciplined campaign (despite biden minor slip ups)

If it was made and planned weeks ago why wait until now to air it?

Is it possible they (Obama's campaign advisors) knew it would be close and wanted something to counter any momentum McCain might gain in the final days?

Here's how I heard an analysis go:
The Obama camp calculated with a slight drop towards the end.
Basically, there's a concern that the swing voters who are leaning Obama will get last minute worries and jump ship.

This 30 minute infomercial was about letting these voters getting to know Obama some more, show him in a way that voting for him becomes something perfectly normal.

We'll see how it played out. But I think the McCain camp made yet another mistake when doing an add - ABOUT Obama's ad.

McCain needs to get away from the image of someone who only talks about - Obama.
McCain needs to become the caretaker.

Granted there is a discrepancy in that he says families making less than $200K rather the $250K.

McCain is practically being charitable and giving it away yet Obama can't deliver the hard cross and knock him out.

There is no doubt he's bringing change to Washington, ...even in the way political campaigns are run. we all thought Clinton was groundbreaking when he appeared on Arsenio and play the sax, ...but considering his campaigns use of the internet, text messaging, ads in video games, and now an infomercial, ...Obama knows how to reach people where they live.

As for Obama's standing in the polls being lower than expected, despite his messsage and his campaign, and despite McCain being such an incompetent, imo speaks volumes more about the electorate than about Obama.

I thought it was a little predictable, sappy, at first.

But I gotta admit - at the end of it - it was pretty emotional.

I know he's a capitalist just like McCain.  (he's not a socialist by definition, you do know that).

But the production value was very good, it was flawlessly timed with the live exit speech, and it did its purpose.  A lot of people used to watching sitcome crap at 8 pm was sucked into those emotional stories, and probably ended up with a more favorable optinion of Obama.

He is the Hollywood candidate.  If you want Hollywood driven politics he is your guy.  Leif Reifenstal also produced a marvelous film about a certain historical figure.

If you look at what he did BEFORE he started running for office than a whole different tale emerges.  Before he started running for office, Obama was even to the left of socialist Bernie Sanders.
