you sound like this jimmy i had for a patient.  told me how great and smart clinton was, and we dont have a real choice this election.  i informed the academic credentials of obama are equal and in some aspects better than clinton. he goes into silent mode on me. 

the thing is it could be dark around here for the next 16 yrs.  after obama...is there anyone in the republican party equal to this guy?  even the rednecks down south will pulling for him in 2016.

If you recall, they didn't.  There was the lingering issue of the questionable vote count which got swept under the carpet, roads being closed and people unable to get to the polls.  Very shady business.

Of those who did vote for Bush, I'd guess the vast majority were basically fooled into doing so by clever smoke & mirrors campaigning using fear tactics to distract everyone from the fact that their lives suck and it's the fault of those in office.  It's weird that those who are the most overtly patriotic and least willing to question the government are the ones living the hardest lives.  Same as it ever was, I guess.
