There is some indication that the Bush administration isn't prepared to put the hammer down on the greedy banks, but rather use the tax payers money to cover their losses.
Instead of partial nationalisation and control of the troubled banks as eg Belgium and Germany did, Bush is just pushing the tax payers money into the banks, allowing them to KEEP most of their bonus programs.
All this happening in the last few hours of the Bush presidency. Nice legacy, jackass.
I'm sure his corporate buddies will be grateful though.
Now he can retire to that nice farm in Paraguay, far away from US justice.
