Swiss fear worst after barrel of pork blood

KUETTIGEN, Switzerland - Swiss police can be excused for fearing the worst.
Acting on emergency calls Monday night, they hurried to a rural road in northern Switzerland where horrified motorists reported a long trail of blood.
Surely it was evidence of a brutal crime.
Police say they followed the trail for 20 kilometres to the town of Kuettigen, only to find that a barrel of pork blood had overturned inside butcher's supply van.
The spilled cargo had been destined for a local sausage factory.
