I haven't been around in a while, and this may be the wrong place to ask.  If so, could someone (a mod) please PM me with the answer, and delete the thread. 

Currently I have come across a new bro that can help me out.  However, I have never personally dealt with him he says he has references.  This may be a dumb ass question, but what kind of information should I seek when contacting these references he has provided?  Other than the obvious, "is he legit?"

As long as your not directly asking for a source or source checking on this board I think your post is fine. As far as references go, he should have dealt with either boards, or people you are familiar with. People you could talk to to make sure he is legit and not a scammer.
