64% of GOP want Palin for their 2012 nominee
« on: November 08, 2008, 02:54:23 AM »
Rasmussen poll: http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_2012/69_of_gop_voters_say_palin_helped_mccain

Quote
"When asked to choose among some of the GOP’s top names for their choice for the party’s 2012 presidential nominee, 64% say Palin.

The next closest contenders are two former governors and unsuccessful challengers for the presidential nomination this year -- Mike Huckabee of Arkansas with 12% support and Mitt Romney of Massachusetts with 11%.

Three other sitting governors – Bobby Jindal of Louisiana, Charlie Crist of Florida and Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota – all pull low single-digit support."

Don't be too smug Mr Chavez. She generated a lot of hype in a very short time. Next time with more preparation and a clear campaign strategy, you may find the race to be much closer.

If she is considered as the frontrunner for the GOP, I think there's a real chance for a new party forming.
The Republicans who won't support Palin's fight against everything intellectual and educated - they could very well feel enough is enough.

Her problem isn't just lack of preparation and campaign strategy, it's lack of intelligence.

While the "core" christian right may vote for a republican no matter the circumstances, the moderate majority are going to see her lack of intelligence as a deal breaker.

She can be "educated" on strategy and political science, but she can't be made "smart."

The idea of "teaching political science" to someone running for president is absurd.  It's also a slap in the face to anyone with political aspirations preparing the LSAT while a presidential candidate is being taught basic social studies.

Yep...  I don't necessarily mean what you said about Palin, but look at the trend over the past 20-30 years or more...  BOTH of the two big parties have gradually drifted to the left.  And honestly who knows if the Republicans are going to get back on track with their stated party values.

Look for these guys to possibly gain more of a following with disenfranchised conservatives in the coming years:

This poll taken a few days after the election is completely myopic.

Give it a few months and Palin will be all but forgotten.

Personally I would love to see that dingbat run is 2012.  She would get smashed to a pulp in the primaries but it would at least be entertaining.

They need a white guy and a black or female VP.

If the economy rebounds and we're almost out of Iraq, Obama will be pretty hard to beat.

Exactly.

I mean where else can the republicans find another dull normal candidate to energize the dull normal republican base?

She has the Rigth values and skills to bring this country together into the 19th century.

These selfish little republican people don't care one wit about how their stupidity hurts the country, as long as their self-deluded minimally capable candidate wins.

The rightwing has never been viable from an issues perspective b/c its core values are at odds with the best interests of middle america.

Rightwingers are and always have been monied elitests.  They must lie and fool the middle class to garner its votes.

What better way to rope in suckers than to give them one of their own?....a regular person with whom you could have a beer?

I hope she runs as well.

Recall the GOP turns on itself royally during the primaries, they are the party that brought McCain's adopted daughter into play when she was 8 and slurred his wife on robocalls. They will shred her during the primaries, will be most entertaining. :D

She'll run but won't get the nod.  People liked her but she would need to build more of a reputation to appease younger voters who dislike her at present.  I think it's gonna be Huckabee or a wild card we aren't even discussing right now.

I think you're right about the wild card.  Huckleberry Hound would have been a much better choice than Palin for a VP.  He would have still appealed to the evangelical base and he's a smart, affable guy and he would have been much more appealing to the party in a broader sense.  I think McCain really wanted a weak VP and just had no clue how weak Palin really was.

If Palin can actually raise the $$$ and run in 2012 she'll be crucified in the first debate and secure her place as national laughing stock yet again.
