Are they necessary / beneficial?
When cutting or bulking?

I'm carbing up right now with poppy curd dumplings and red wine (pic available on request).

OK, thanks a lot for the input! On my current diet, I took in about 1750 cals on weekdays and double that on sunday, getting 2000 cals per day average. Maybe I'll try two high days next time.

I eat 1750 before noon ;D

I would be a mess eating that low of calories. That takes some serious discipline! Props!!!

I've been on a similar diet since summer, but about a month ago i cut carbs & fat a little lower and upped the protein to the current levels. Finally starting to get somewhere, the high protein did alot, but still along way from ripped.

Well, my maintenance was 2500, so I had to go for an avarage of about 2000 per day. I'm not exactly the mass monster. ;D

chicken ?

The original Wiener Schnitzel is pan-fried, breaded veal. The veal is cut rather thin and first put into flour, then eggs and finally breadcrumbs. This coating is much better that any batter, IMO. Finally it's fried in a pan. A Wiener Schnitzel of proper size must not fit the plate it is served on. ;D

There are many variations, e.g. using pork, chicken, or turkey. You can also put cheese and ham between two layers of meat before breading (called "Cordon Bleu"). The one in the picture is actually a pork cordon bleu.

Originally it's not an Austrian dish, it's from Italy where it is called "Piccata Milanese".

If it was anything but delicious, I'm sure it was not in Vienna.
