Anyone know how come people 10000 or 5000 years ago had time and energy to build enormous pyramids and temples and sphinxes and stuff like that in their spair time? And why did humans lost so much of knowledge now? Thanks.

Yes probably something to it, I got rid of the TV myself a good while ago. And since I been wanting to build a pyramid here in the USA, the biggest one yet.

Why would people unknowing of eachother and one different continents all start build these same exact geometric monuments, and starting around the same time? Maybe it is in the genes.

No they were not slaves. They were regular farmers and workers, just members of a democratic society. It was EARLIER thought they were built by slaves, but it was TAXDEDUCTABLE work. So either you pay taxes or work on pyrramid. If you call that slavery then we are all slaves.

You say "democratic society" as if its comparable to our present day, but in reality our version of democracy is much more convoluted.

Also, your initial post seems to claim that humans do not create anymore, when in fact we create even moreso.  As humans we're constantly erecting more monuments to ourselves, whether they're avante garde stadiums in Beijing or humongous hadron colliders underground in France.  Also, we could still build pyramids like the Egyptians, we just want to know how they did it.

the pyramids were not built entirely by slaves and archaeologists now think that a vast majority of the labourers who built the pyramids were well looked after.

this thought comes after the excavation of the site long thought to have been the 'kitchen' where food was prepared for the majority. bones and fragnemts of bones of thousands of cattle have been found not far from this site.

in that time, cattle (beef) was only fed to the very well off and the pharoahs and thier families. to have made such a discovery now makes researchers think that the labourers were indeed treated quite well.

this ends the only semi intelligent post i'll probably ever make on this board. no need to thank me.

i'd like to see some graphs on human productivity pre/post internet, pre/ post cell phones, etc.

seems like we're just doing more spinning in circles, but not actually getting any more productive.  even though email and cell phones are there to make our lives "easier", seems like they just give us more shit to do to end up with the same result.

funny, the ancients (Greeks for example) were fond of democracy...but only in respect of their own citizens, while slaves (as well as children born from slaves) were considered human tools to be used in production....Aristotle justified it by suggesting that slaves (usually from conquered states) were inferior beings because their state fell to submission and therefore it was morally justified to use slavery....i'm surprised that ppl w/ such intellects could think so absurdly
