no, times during the 90's were totally different than during ronnie's reign.

when dorian showed up out of shape eg 94 or 96, (and with a missing arm) the judges didn't give a shit and didn't even knock him points.

with Ronnie, when he showed up out of shape (eg. 01 or 02) he was scored down (still won, but almost lost based on the scoring)

the judging was actually a lot better during Ronnie's reign.

its pretty easy to see why - fans were getting bored of the bullshit politics and stopped buying tickets.

that led to the Gunter fiasco in a desperate effort to sell tickets.

and that led to 2003 - a complete destruction of everyone by an in shape Ronnie..

You, yourself have suggested better judging during Ronnie's reign, yet conveniently decry Gunter beating Ronnie. Perhaps this better judging of which you speak was never more in evidence than when Gunter was the victor.  And, if everyone were tired of bullshit politics at that particular point in time, one can assume that this would be resultant from several of Ronnie's wins, being that he had been the champ from 1998 up to that point.  If all of big Ron's wins were just and deserved, as you like to imply, then why such frustration on the part of the fans so many years after Dorian had retired?

I was thinking that too, then I looked at last years side chest, and it looked as good as that, I sadly think when he diets down, we will see all the same old flaws again =(

yates - weak arms, lack of upper chest and flat delts, wide waist. large obliques, distended gut, lack of quad sweep

ronnie- weak calves, distended gut ONLY when he got over 285 pounds in contest shape

yates - 6 sandows, 3 were gifts, Nasser  won in 1996, 1997, shawn ray in 1994
ronnie- 8 sandows, 1 arnold classic, all wins were dominant except 2001 when jay shaded ronnie from the front but ronnie still beat jay from sideposes and rear poses

yates= good but overrated, won becos of mcgoughs influence in Flex and weinberger's influence as a judge/IFBB politics
