Sources: Obama chooses Eric Holder to be Attorney General

CNN has learned that President-elect Obama offered the position of Attorney General to Eric Holder, a veteran of the Clinton administration.
(CNN) –Sources tell CNN’s Ed Henry and John King Barack Obama has chosen Eric Holder as his nominee for Attorney General.

Holder has accepted the position but must still undergo a vetting process by the Obama transition team.

If confirmed, Holder will become the first African-American to hold the position.

He served as deputy attorney general under Bill Clinton

Newsweek first reported the story.

He's catching a little heat foor rubber-stamping the Marc Rich pardon, ala Clinton 2000.


But, like most of the former clinton staffers being named to posts, he's experienced.  he won't fck things up.  Alberto Gonzalez was in way over his head and ended up costing his party by pulling that "I forgot!" bullshit under oath.

I thought this at first... but the more I thought about it...

You can't CHANGE a complex, corrupt system until you can UNDERSTAND it.  It takes a lot of time to 'figure out' positions.  New people would have to FIRST learn the ropes of the job just to stay afloat, THEN make changes.  These people already know the ropes, and most agree the Clinton presidency *(and economy) were very good things.

Perhaps he's going to staff all the positions with people who are experienced and can do a steady job.  THEN he can change what he chooses - he'll have the people in place who know the job inside and out.

he's just about ensuring he gets re-elected in 2012 with these selections.
