Obese have right to 2 airline seats: Canada court

OTTAWA (Reuters) - Obese people have the right to two seats for the price of one on flights within Canada, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled on Thursday.

The high court declined to hear an appeal by Canadian airlines of a decision by the Canadian Transportation Agency that people who are "functionally disabled by obesity" deserve to have two seats for one fare.

The airlines had lost an appeal at the Federal Court of Appeal in May and had sought to launch a fresh appeal at the Supreme Court. The court's decision not to hear a new appeal means the one-person-one-fare policy stands.

The appeal had been launched by Air Canada, Air Canada Jazz and WestJet.

well they are, they live half as long, do much less than half of what normal ppl can do, spend 3-5times more on food, get 15 times as many "look at that fat fuck" looks than normal ppl and smell 4 times worse... but they should have to buy an extra ticket or sit in the 'fat section' of the plane.

Fuck people, it's not a disease!  You can't get on a plane if they deem you to intoxicated.  But going by this, if you're an alcoholic you should be able to get as shitfaced as you want since it's obviously not your fault.

Yes I demand a whole row.  The only problem is I still squeeze into a single seat.  But then I generally fly first class or business so I have no problem with it.  But hey if I ever have to fly coach then there may be a problem.
