that's julia wetmore. she was born without a face, unbelievably enough. that picture (at least the head part) was taken after something like six operations just to give her eye sockets, cheeks, and a mouth. the tragic part is that she's not damaged mentally from what i've read, just her face is going to look like that for the rest of her life.

No amount of reconstructive surgery can give her the life she deserves, and nothing can take away the pain and mental anguish she will have to deal with in her life.  I wouldn't think that was a life worth living.  Where's "god" on that one?
