Maybe you didn't bet enough? Avesher are you getting enough social contact in the real world? Maybe you should go see AXA and "talk" to him about the name change.

I smoked and drinked socially until a month ago when I quit ...In the past when I prepped for bodybuilding for some strange reason in off season I wouldn't drink or smoke at all as I thought it affected my appetite ...pre contest I would smoke a lot and get drunk once in a while.

I think it's not only unhealthy but I figured the money can go towards more productive and rewarding venues.

Do you guys social smoke?

Smoking is a hobby that offers many physical, social and psychologial benefits to the user if not overdone. The refined and discerning gentleman comprehends this, and he lights the cigarette, cigar or pipe at the right time and doesen't overdo it. I smoke an average of 10 cigarettes a week, always when I have the time to enjoy the flavor of the cigarette and the benefits of the nicotine without being disturbed. I smoke Parliament extra slims, a British brand Americans aren't aware of, or Minister cigarettes, a very old unfiltered blend from the U.K that isn't made in England anymore, but still is in the Netherlands. I buy mine at a specialized tobacco store that has over two hundred imported brands at an absurd price. But it is worth every cent.

Social Smoking Takes a Lasting Toll

(Credit:Carolyn Kaster/Associated Press)
Among the 45 million smokers in the United States, about 19 percent don’t smoke every day. These occasional smokers — people who smoke only on the weekends or just a few times a week in social situations — often believe they are avoiding the health worries typically associated with smoking.

But new research shows that even occasional cigarette smoking can impair artery function, a sign of looming heart disease.

In a small study, researchers at the University of Georgia recruited 18 healthy college students, half of whom were nonsmokers. The other half were occasional smokers, who puffed less than a pack a week and had not smoked for at least two days before undergoing testing. The study, published online in the journal Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology, used ultrasound scans to measure how the students’ arteries responded to changes in blood flow.

The researchers used a blood pressure cuff to reduce blood flow to the forearm for up to 10 minutes. Then they rapidly deflated the cuff and measured how the main artery in the forearm responded to the sudden change in blood flow.

The study found that the arteries of occasional smokers were 36 percent less responsive to changes in blood flow than nonsmokers. After the initial test, the occasional smokers had two cigarettes before undergoing the test again. That exam showed that arterial responsiveness dropped by another 24 percent compared to before they smoked.

“We wanted to determine whether occasional smoking can impair flow-mediated dilation and found that repeated bouts of cigarette smoking — even if classified as occasional — appear to increase the risk for developing cardiovascular disease in otherwise healthy, young people,” said lead author Lee Stoner, a former doctoral student and now a researcher at Christchurch Hospital in New Zealand, in a press release.

The researchers said the lasting effect of occasional smoking on artery health was surprising.

“Most people know that if they have a cigarette or two over the weekend that it’s not good for their arteries,” said study co-author Kevin McCully, a professor of kinesiology in the University of Georgia College of Education, also in a press release. “But what they may not be aware of is that the decrease in function persists into the next week, if not longer.”

Great article, think I'll show that to a few people.  I still react pretty harshly to smokers even though I know I shouldn't.  There's a fine line that must be walked in society between infringing on someone's right to do what they will with their own body and respecting other people's rights to upholding standard of living that is not easily met when certain aforementioned others are allowed to do whatever they want with their own bodies-ie, smoking.

I don't have a clear answer, but I do know that the air quality of a small room is dramatically effected by a single cigarette; what about the air quality of a planet in regards to 1.3billion(1/6 of world's population) smokers worldwide, smoking anywhere from a single cigarette to four packs a day?  I don't want to take away their rights, but they don't seem to have any problem taking away mine to a healthy environment that I can enjoy.  My immediate knee jerk reaction to smokers is a feeling deep seeded anger-my thoughts don't represent those feelings, but they are still my immediate feelings nonetheless.  It's a serious flaw in my character, but it's in response to what I immediately perceive as a serious act of violence towards everyone and everything.

Do any of you guys smoke, yet won't date a chick who smokes? I find chicks that smoke to be weak and unattractive, even though I smoke myself. Same with a broad who over indulges on alcohol, even though I do that as well.

"Date" or hang with for the night? When I was single it didn't matter if she smoked as long as I got mine, the next day who cares, she was gone anyway. In a relationship, no way, I didn't want everything smelling like shitsmoke.

Smoking more the pipe now than cigarettes. I have developed severe bronchitis so I have switched from cigarettes to forms of tobbacco than don't require the person to inhale.

You reap what you sew, cigaretteMan. Your bronchitis will likely develop into COPD and eventually you will be hauling around an oxygen bottle. Exciting huh??? :)
