Afghanistan demands timeline

Looks like Iraq telling us to GTFO has emboldened Afghanistan...

President Hamid Karzai demanded on Tuesday at a meeting with a UN Security Council team that the international community set a "timeline" for ending military intervention in Afghanistan, his office said.

Karzai told a delegation from the Council that his country needed to know how long the US-led "war on terror" was going to be fought in Afghanistan or it would be forced to seek a political solution to a Taliban-led insurgency.

"The international community should give us a timeline of how long or how far the war on terrorism will go," Karzai's chief spokesman Homayun Hamidzada cited the president as telling the meeting.

"If we don't have a clear idea of how long it will be, the Afghan government has no choice but to seek political solutions," he told AFP.

Exactly. It's all for show with him. He couldn't control a city with NATO in the country. Realistically how long would he stay in power if we left?  A week? A month?

It takes about 40 min to drive to Bagram or about 15 min to drive to KIA (kabul airport) I figure he'd last an hour then head the airport.

Its important because u can't have an entire country serving as a base for terror groups. If a viable government exists, they can police their own wack jobs. We're trying to get them to that point. Honestly, we'd rather seem they be able to crush bad guys then feed their own people. We figure we can help em do that, or the UN etc. There is alot that goes into this but that should give u an idea of my opinion on it.
