Other than accutane, are there any good treatments?

I know there are 5 alpha reductase inhibitors in sebaceous glands,,, do any of you notice less oil when on finasteride?

Is it causing acne?  I use Dawn dishwashing soap on my shoulders and tan regularly which cuts it down tremendously.  I haven't tried accutane simply due to the side effects I've heard about.  I also use Cetaphil on my face 2-3 times a day and have another wash I use (can't remember off the top of my head what it is) to keep things clean.

Accutane is the only drug that stops the pores, but it has some serious side effects.

My advice is to try Benedryl for acne or don't use AAS at all.

I've used fina and couldn't tell a difference.

I take a newer scrip. med called Solodyn. Its an anti-bacterial. It seems to be working great, and it has alot of positive feedback. Check out www.acne.org       Peace brother.

excellent post.

My question is more along the lines of:  does finasteride decrease oily skin?  Theoretically, it should since sebaceous glands are activated by DHT, and 5 aplha reductase is located in sebaceous glands....

I honestly know nothing about acne or oily skin, but I have friend who's prone to adult acne (apparently a little different than adolescent acne  ??? ) and her derm prescribed her a relatively new product called DIFFERIN (adapalene).  I guess it works pretty well.  :-\

cetaphil daily cleanser ...removes the excess oil but doesnt dry the skin.. works fan-fucking-tastic.. been to multiple dermatologists and two facialists and all of em recommend cetaphil brand products...

differen is ok, takes away inflammation of the acne, but you have to put it on like lotion, would be a pain to do that all over back or something, it is kinda oily texture if i remember.

If your so worried about oily skin wash everyday and "Accutane is the only drug that stops the pores" thats Faulse Retin A, Retin A Micro Gel, Differin, Tazorac and Avita also do the same thing.

and if its such a big deal go to a dermatologist

There's only one person who does that and his name is "tbombz" aka "dizzle".

Most vets on here have years of cycling under their belt and know what they're talking about from experience, not from google searches or second hand information.

You're going to learn everything you know by doing, not reading......
