There many very well educated and intelligent people that believe in conspiracy theories.  Just look at how many people believe the JFK CT.   

People believe in these things because it's a way to make sense out of a tragic event.  It's often not enough for them to accept or believe a simple answer.  Like 11 Hijackers or 1 lone gunman.

My basic problem is that the government that is so incompetent in doing almost anything cannot pull something like this off without screweing it up.
