This question reminds of the same question but only with religion.

A person who is "too religious" might have a hard time the as a person who takes their party's ideology too serious"

Political affiliation wouldn't be a consideration for me.

Neither would it be for me...who cares. If they were super religious, that would have an affect. I dated a chick who thought I was weird because I thought "we came from monkeys".....whatever.

If James Carville and Mary Matalin can do it, then anyone can.

Yes, why not? Politics is mostly crap, as all politicians are basically liars and grifters.

Bleeding heart demmies do much better when matched up with more realistic conservatives. And conservatives do well when they have someone to tell them how they're being utterly ridiculous.  :)

If you're dumb enough to think there's that big of a difference between the parties, I don't think you should marry in the first place. That may increase the great risk of reproduction.  :o

LOL, If you're partners political affiliation enters into your thought process of being together, you're most definitely with the wrong one anyway.

Not to piss in the punchbowl, but what makes you think conservatives are realistic about anything?  Nominal conservatives are fucking gasbags that operate in a world where tax cuts pay for themselves, the constitution is an impediment, and big business really can self-regulate.

It's been the bleeding heart demmies that have had to clean up the excesses of republican/conservative mismanagement.  Start with Reagan and go forward.

From economics to the environment, conservatives live in a frickin fantasyland.

And to answer the question, Yes.

I was married for 10 years to a woman who pretended to be conservative but was in reality a closet liberal.  Now she's out of the closet.

She also truly believes that Obama is the reincarnation of Abraham Lincoln.  She also reads daily email messages from some alien who's head of the Galactic Federation (as channeled through some nutjob).  And checks her horoscope daily, believes all sorts of other new-age crap, etc. etc. blah blah blah.

So what's my point?  I dunno exactly...  But oftentimes one's political views are indicative of a broader overall mindset.  So while I don't necessarily take issue with one's political party per se, I don't do so well with kooks and nutjobs.  The ex and I remain good friends...  but I see her and her wacky friends and one of the common threads with them is their liberal political stance.  So make of that what you will.

Oh yeah.  My cousin is an attorney to the Vatican, a member of Opus Dei and he plays poker with Antonin Scalia.

He's also a great guy.  His politics are horrible though.
