maybe they deduct from smaller guy what a big guy would be...they had no internet, tv and modern hobbies so they had time to think about thing like that.

Actually i read an article about gladiator's nutrition in old rome. They ate a lot of beans and (cheap) meat to get huge.

As for Da Vinci: These are anatomical studies done on dead bodies. The skin is cut away to reveal the muscles.

Yes, i recall that they ate meat rarely, only when cheap meat was available. Didn't know about the barley, thanks for that.

I just read where they were "overweight vegetarians". Using the layer of fat for protection because their armor wasn't necessarily the greatest.
