he has made new size improvements the past few shows. he may have sacrificed some condition, but this added size got him the olympia.

Dexter is sort of the modern day Franco, in that although impressive in his own right, he is smaller and less imposing than the winners that have come before him.  The best man on the stage that night he may have been, but in taking the title he didn't present anything that the sport hasn't seen before.
