Problems with this sport...
« on: December 03, 2008, 06:46:51 PM »
There's too much drugs and too little money for the athletes. IMO. It would be nice to see prizes in the millions of dollars. That's what I want to see: less drugs and more money. Will it ever happen?

It's a fringe sport it will never be as big as mainstream sports , although prize money has gone up consistently you wont ever see massive NFL NBA MLB type pay-days

Hey John!  Do you know Matt Tsinkorang?  He lives in Canada too (when he's not in Dubai, India or hanging with Will Harris in Venice).

Promotors for the most part don't make money.  Bobybuilding shows (with the exception of the O and ASC) are money losers.   Ask Shawn Ray.

Some of them are too stupid to understand they don't make money (which is why you see a lot of one or two time shows), and some just do it to get "up close and personal" with the oiled men in thongs.

The only $ in this industry comes from supplements.

John!   Are you familiar with Vince Basile?   He won your country's national bodybuilding championship in 1970!

no other *sport* has soo many prostitutes participating.

a pro makes his money from working as a prostitute.. not winning contests.

the problem is that pros are marketed as hyper masculine play toys to the homosexual community.

because that's who wants heavily muscled men.

the sport will always be seedy.
James , are you saying gays are seedy?

What are you talking about?  There's tons of money in bodybuilding.

I know guys who are being paid $20,000 a month and they don't even have jobs!

Just because you don't know about it doesn't mean the money isn't there.

who are they?  i can see ronnie (bsn out the gates), dex (not the marketable if you ask me), jay (white surfer blond type) and maybe phil (if you think he is worth that much) but who else?  sorry...you can get more mileage selling your sups with a couple of low end runway models and nfl/nba players.

$250K to a bber yearly.  that's a hard one to digest.
Oh...Monica!

Do pro bowlers make more than pro bodybuilders?  How big is the audience for bowling?  Bigger or smaller than bodybuilding?

Thay don't workout but they've got a lot of mass from all the beer and pizza, so I'd say bigger.  In a rumble I'd have to give it to the bowlers.

Thanks for your posts guys and all your help. Not a sport? Really? As far as I know it's a sport. Pic up most any bodybuilding book, and you will read that this is a sport. If it looks like a duck, it is a duck... hehehe. So, yeah, a sport is a sport, is a sport.

Anyway, Arnold said that it's a sport, so it must be a sport, right?
