BB.com poll: Yates at his best beats Coleman
« on: December 04, 2008, 07:07:52 PM »
Do You Think Dorian Yates At His Best Would Beat Ronnie Coleman At His Best?

Yes - Definitely    46.7% 154 (46.7%)
No Way    31.5% 104 (31.5%)
It Would Be Too Close To Tell    21.8% 72 (21.8%)

...just as we all expected...now that Coleman is retired, he will fade away and be remembered as the guy that didn't know when to hang it up and ended up with a 4th place gift (other gifts included 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2004). Great bb'er though, 2nd best behind King Yates.

I love Doz, but hell no!  At their respective bests, Ronnie wins--easily!

Nope. Dorian was undefeated after 1992. Ronnie lost to several mid tier BBs in the grand scheme of things. Also, Ronnie was closer to his prime than Dorian in 96 and 97 and still wasn't even close to Doz.

Dorian only beats Ronnie in polls because of Dorian's recent media exposure on websites like BB.com. His name is out there in the public's eye and that creates a buzz about him. More people are viewing his pics alone and marvelling over his physique more than Ronnie's right now, because Ronnie isn't creating much of a buzz with tell-all interviews. Thus, there is more liklihood that Joe Weightlifter will pick Dorian in a poll, because they've built up a recent admiration for him due to his recent publicity.

Ronnie would win a poll if the same marketing tools were used on him.

something that fellow getbiggers should know:

a while back there was a ronnie vs dorian poll going on at several well known bb sites

dorian was loosing by hundreds of votes in each one.

we posted these polls on the truce thread to show the dorian nuthuggers.

guess what happened right after that?

dorian's vote count mysteriously went up by almost 2 THOUSAND votes over a week period.

and the dorian nuthuggers posting on the truce thread denied any involvement...

 ::) ::)

I would not be surprised if the same thing happened now...

bullshit! The count never went up "thousands"  ::) Yates won fair and square, as he has in this most recent BB.com poll.

Dorian owns Ronnie. Dorian owns proBB. He is the godfather of modern bodybuilding and the man with the freakiest combo of condition, density, and mass to ever step on the Olympia stage.

Yates would not only beat Coleman but dominate him.

Dorian Yates at his best is the most complete bodybuilder to ever walk the Earth.

Most people recognise this...

What a bunch of crap. I can argue the same: that Ronnie wins more often in polls because he's a more recent Olympia winner, so people remember him better than Dorian, who retired over a decade ago. In fact, this is far more plausible than what you are claiming.

Just look at dorian's face here...nobody EVER stepped on stage this dehydrated. In fact, I believe I have seen cadavers more hydrated than Dorian was at this point in time.

I wouldn't doubt that both our answers play a part, yet many polls and statements are made when someone's publicity is on a high. Those statements or polls can't be viewed with the same validity as when that person was as obscure as their opponent (Ronnie) is right now, pertaining to media attention. The media is a powerful tool.
