Heavy deadlift vs testicles groin kids problem myths
« on: December 08, 2008, 08:19:01 AM »
I heard this story from my grandma that lifting heavy shit from the floor can affect your abdomen, groin area and testicles power, any truth to this myth?

You can get hernia from heavy lifting, especially from exercises like squats and deadlifts. That being said, not everyone will develop the problem - in fact, the majority of people who lift won't.

Lifting can cause it, but in my own experience, genetics play a key role.  My dad had a stomach/ab wall hernia lifting a car door on a car he was rebuilding.  My brother picked up a 20 pound box of someting and got the testicle hernia.  My neice was born with a tear in her ab wall, with the intestine poking through.  At age 6, the docs haev finally accepeted it won't be healing on its own, and she'll have surgery this week on it.

I've never had one, but I've had a few small crimps in the midsection that hurt for days.  Never been injured anywhere else... just lots of aches and tweaks from the ab wall.  No hernias yet, knock on wood.

Depends. There are several types of hernias each of which get triggered by different causes. Heavy lifting most commonly leads to hernias of the groin and abdomen, although those aren't the only ones.

deadlifts are good... just don't attempt weights that you can only get 4 reps or below.

go see a doc.

You'll have what is essentially what looks like a 3rd nut... a protruding tissue that pops thru at the base of your taint.

Google Inguinal hernia

It's best to hire someone to pick up "shit" to free up time for more important things like selecting thongs.

Produce your genitals in the crowded locker room before your workout tonight.

Ask the other men if your testes look good or not.

They'll be flattered you value their opinion, and likely help you out.

It's not gay, it's medical advice. Also ask to follow them in the shower so you can make comparisons, for medical reasons of course. Good Luck.

Not true. My boy's 11 and weighs a whopping 88lbs and DL's 165. No complaints.

Incorrect breathing causes this.
If you hold ur breath during the movement, the pressure on your abdominal region is immense
