What happened? Why did he quit being a Cop? Seems like a waste to me. Still, he's a role model to me because of his time as a Cop. But, would be more of a role model if he was still a Cop.

Body Builders with careers are the best role models. IMO.

All cops are idiots.  Ronnie worked at a desk answering phones.  Not a beat cop
Most are all show no go!

John Smith from Canada--in all seriousness, answer this...in what respect do you consider Ronnie a "role model"  What part of his life are you modeling after his?

A balance in life between a career and sport. Ronnie did that. So did many others.

ronnie also worked the beat.  there was a story of kids being stopped by ronnie.  when they say ronnie...they just jumped out the car and went face down on the ground before he said one word.

Oh...Monica!

There's another story that I heard: Ronnie would be driving down the street, while on patrol, with one hand on the steering wheel, and eating chicken and yams with the ohter hand. Meanwhile, juggling all the other things that you have to do with the other hand: notes, radio, ect... that's dedication.

Body Builders with careers are the best role models. IMO.

Busy schedule. Ronnie worked as a full-time cop, from the time he turned pro, until about 2000 or 2001. That means he won several pro shows, including his first three Olympia, while still wielding the badge.

As his bodybuilding career grew, it took too much time from his police work. As someone else mentioned earlier, he's a reserve cop. I think he did that in order to keep his pension, which is a smart more.

It's not unlike 2006 North American Champion, Leo Ingram. He was a amateur bodybuilder on the rise, in the mid-90s. But, he put his bodybuilding career on hold to finish his service in the Navy. As his tenure came to an end, he hit the stage again, winning the North American and turning pro. About a year ago, he retired as a Chief Petty Officer, which means he gets a good pension and medical benefit for him and his family, for the rest of his life.
