Tommy, You might recall this if you ever trained at the Santa Monica Gold's when it was open and when Pete and his partner's owned it.
There was a Swedish Smorgasboard place about a block south and it was doing great business with the typical old timers that lived in the Santa Monica area.
Then one day one of the guys from Gold's heard about it (I think it was Cahling) and enjoyed it so much and told the guys at Gold's to give it a try cause it was great Swedish food.
So they gave it a try and kept going back for seconds and thirds, and fourths, etc, etc. and the place closed down within a couple of weeks.
That was just about the time when Joe Nazario worked as a front door person at a new place in the other direction called "Tony Roma's" where they served great spare ribs with all the trimmings, white table cloths, and live piano music for just about $3.95 a plate. This one might have been the first. The place was usually full of the Gold's Gym guys after the Smorgasboard place went out of business.
You remember those days, Tommy?
Maybe you don't, BUT you must recall The GERMAN'S!
