I think David Lee Roth did that on a solo album.

It's hard to place VH, DLR, and SHagar in the rank of greatest bands of all time.

I just don't know where they land.

Calling a DLR solo song a VH one is total blasphemy.

VH is your favorite and still you confuse VH and DLR  ???

- " Which side you took on VH - DLR breakup. "
- " Van Halen. "
- " Wrong. "

Although they tour together now. Maybe we put these jokes aside... for a while.

yankee rose is from roth's first full length solo cd with steve vai and billy sheehan, eat em and smile.  great vid's from that cd, but not all that many great songs, 5150 by vh blows it away IMO.

Dave basically put out this disk and it sold a couple of million copies and had a couple of great songs, 5150 had tons of great songs but no video's except for the live disk they put out called Live Without a Net which is awsome...dave solo career went downhill after this while VH stayed on top until they kicked Hagar out in 96.

Roth is performing with them now but I don't think you can say he's "in the band" I'd almost bet he's just a hired gun....I mean Dave hasn't said a word in like 2 years now that's totally out of character 4 him.

Quoted for truth.  5150 blows Eat Em' and Smile away.

EEAS is basically Dave trying to recreate VH's Diver Down album with all the covers and all that.  The vids from this are funny but they really hurt Dave in the long run cause he was basically doing the same thing VH did in 1984 and by 1986 when this was released everyone was doing that so Dave basically just got lumped into the whole hairband genre while VH stayed away from MTV for a bit and let the songs sell themselves.

Dave was a great frontman but without Ed or a real incredible guitar player like Vai he just doesn't have the pizaz he needs to sustain a solo career.
