Why does the white house keep siding with the dems?
« on: December 12, 2008, 11:33:17 PM »
Republicans held up this bailout bill for 700 billion.
Republicans stopped the illegal/amnesty bill.
Republicans stopped the auto bailout bill.

Yet on all of these issues, the republican white house sided with the DEMS and it was up to the republicans in congress to ACT LIKE REPUBLICANS and vote against the bill.

Why does the repub admin keep siding with the democrats?  They're lame duck, so it's not like they're worried about sucking up for votes.  Why hand the last drop of their political power to Reid and Pelosi?

Yes, Bush/Cheney were with Reid and Pelosi on this bill.  Not with the Republicans in the senate.  Why?

IMHO, it's the political game.

Bush is responsible for running the economy to hell over the last 8 years.

Now he tries to sort of handle the mess and leave on as good note as he can.

It just so happens that the economic crisis demands intervention according to most economics (not according to Ron Paul though, he thinks the politicians just should step back and let it all fall and it will be all good in year or so, never mind all the people who will have lost their homes, jobs and futures).

But since intervening means using tax dollars, he's in a jam.

Because the Republicans are on a losing streak, so the few of them who's left are not going to back Bush.

Because if they do, they too risk losing the mid-terms.

And the Democrats will not accept shelling out money without getting their voters jobs covered.

Hence the extra bills that the Democrats gets attached to the rescue plans.

As empty as paradise

Because the "monster" must be fed?

It's only in the fringe issues that there is a noticeable difference between the republicans and democrats, a.k.a. "shit that don't matter," from a greenback point of view.

I must admit it's really funny in a sad way to see all these "protectors of democracy" line up over and under and criscross party lines (misteriously and without being asked) like little bitches when the pimp comes down to collect the money. It's when they have to explain the erratic behaviour that it gets even funnier.
