Case officially closed. Ronnie Wins.
« on: December 13, 2008, 12:29:42 AM »
When Ronnie won back to back Olympia and Arnold Classic in 2001, He accomplished the impossible, peaking twice in the same season, rapping the entire "cream of the 90's" in September and then doing the same thing 5 months later to the "upcoming millennium generation".

Something Yates never did in 6 years; Win (questionably), disappear, reappear, reapeat.

didn't dexter jackson just do that?  :D

Alex, you know how fierce the competition in the early 90's was?
Dorian yates didn't only win, he DOMINATED, and nobody questioned why he should have won
Many people felt cheated when Ronnie won

Yates has a near 90% winning percentage
never placed lower than 2nd, only placed 2nd twice at the start of his career

Ronnie's is 40% ish
and yates beat him 8 times
Ronnie's olympia wins were controversial
without a question it should have gone like this
2000 Levrone
2001 Cutler
2002 Levrone
2004 Cutler
maybe 2003 for Cutler

wins at 98, 99 over flex were not solid at all, many including Flex felt Flex should have won, he turned his back on Ronnie and said he was number one
in 1993 his best year he raised Dorian's hand and said Dorian was unbeatable, accused him of being on super drugs.

I used to defend Ronnie until I saw how dominant Yates was and that his own peers saw him as unbeatable!

Ahahaha true... I forgot Dexter just did the same thing... kinda lost interest of the late... lots of tongues and oil...

I have no strong feeling one way or another... Both look goo at their best. Ronnie is far more impressive however.

Here's some advice. Listen to people and stop thinking you know everything.

The epitome of bodybuilding. It'll take at least 10-15years before this can be repeated again.

Big Bubba looks great with the water retention, looking soft, no calves or forearms, missing aesthetics, symmetry, proportion and that 11 month pregnant gut  ::)

Yes, but Dex wasn't Mr. Olympia when he won the Arnold.
He did it in reverse.  It's very psychological going into a show knowing you can knock off the number one guy in the world.
AXA Everyone one of Yates wins could be contested except 92 and 93.

94 Levrone
95 Levrone
96 Ray
97 Nasser

Ronnies Olympia's may have been controversial to you and ND to the general public no...  The only questionable O' for Ronnie was 01 and maybe 02 (even though he wasn't at his best no one was good enough to beat him)

Ronnie had world class,  arms, chest, back, quads and shoulders
Yates had world class, back and calves.  He was all conditioning.

People will remember Ronnie forever in bodybuilding Yates is proving to be a 2nd tier Mr. Olympia.

Levrone never complained about Yates beating him, he never beat Yates, to this day he considers Yates unbeatable
he feels he should have won 2000 and 2002, and he is right, and he beat Ronnie on SEVERAL occasions.

It's bodybuilding, it's about the total package you represent not how peaked your biceps are  ;)
Dorian had alot more mass than Ronnie, with way way better conditioning
Yates had better forearms and triceps than Ronnie
better back
huge, proportional legs
over all proportiona and symmytry
and his shoulders were better than Ronnie's
Ronnie said it himself, that Yates had the best side chest of all time
in 1998 he said if Yates had competed, he would have beat Ronnie
he represented an unbeatable total package

I used to defend Ronnie until yesterday, think about it, I'm sure you'll come to the same conclusion I have  ;)

Actually Ronnie lost. The last two Mr. O's. Also in 2001 and 2002. 98 was questionable as was 2005.

I love how you and the other Yates nuthuggers continuously use 1993 OFFSEASON pictures to support your views.  Why is that?  Let me tell you why because there are few if any impressive contest photos of Yates.

So from now on in further arguements regarding Yates and Coleman, how about only showing contest photos because this is when it counts....am I correct?

Before Ronnie became the dominant champion he ended up being be believed Yates could have still beat him.  In the end he said he  would have beaten Yates and Yates also conceded this fact.

Yates had more mass than Ronnie? Yates 270 in 1997 at his biggest, Ronnie 294 in 2004 at his biggest....now who had more mass?

Yes, bodybuilding, Ronnie had a collection of worldclass bodyparts that made him the best ever.  Yates had local NPC arms, National NPC shoulders and legs and Olympian back, calves and conditioning.  Ronnie wins.  You guys can say Ronnie said this and other people said that but in the end.  RONNIE AND YATES and many others say Ronnie was the best Mr. O EVER.

Remember the show happens on stage not 6 weeks out.

Levrone never complained about losing to Yates because he never beat Yates.

He had beaten Ronnie many times, he didn't like that Ronnie came from nowhere and beat them all.

I remember his comments on UG board back in early 1999. It was like 'Winning when he was 9th last year. How can he do that?'

Anyone disputing Ronnie 1998?

2001 - In pics Jay looks good. On video, there are pro's and then there is Ronnie. AXA seriously, with your body, you should be quiet and learn. But whatever just start another thread on this shit.

reapeatis not a word.

In 2001 Ronnie peaked once - at the Arnold.
Later in 2001 Ronnie competed below par and nearly lost to Cutler.

Get a hair cut and lose some fat.

Dorian was not offseason in the famous shots lmfao. In those shots he was 269lbs and in better condition than Coleman ever was at any point in time ;)

The epitome of bodybuilding. It'll take at least 10-15years before this can be repeated again.

A repeat of what?  A very huge, but disproportioned champion, with a penchant for holding water and displaying sub par conditioning?  To make no mention of the ridiculous "raise the roof" gestures that come with each and every posing routine.  I won't even get into his predilection of pulling his posing trunks half way up his ass.  ::)

People can express a personal preference for Ronnie's physique over Dorian's, that is fine.  However, Dorian was twice the champion Ronnie will ever be.  Dorian was much more cerebral in nature, not to mention independent.  He controlled and gave consideration to every aspect of his contest preparations, leaving no stone unturned. Rather than chasing more and more size, he instead chose to refine his physique, always placing a premium on conditioning. And not unlike Arnold, Yates put effort and planning into a routine that best suited and displayed his physique and exemplified that of a true professional.

When Dorian walked on stage, he looked every bit a champion.   The top competitors would readily admit that Yates all but had things wrapped up, even before the contest began.  Dorian dominated unlike anyone before him, or since.  Ronnie, although accomplished in his own right, will have the legacy of a bodybuilder who merely went to the gym and threw around big weights, while retaining an expensive "guru" to hold his hand, so that he didn't have to worry about thinking and chewing gum at the same time.
