In liberal hell where I live, the liberals are proposing raising 88 taxes including:

1.  Gas tax hike.
2.  Itunes tax
3.  Soda Tax of 18%
4.  Bus tax and Taxi Tax


They are also raising the amount of welfare that receipients get by 1/3 per month!

This is why I vote republican most of the time.  They may be corrupt, but keep taxes lower than the democrats.

The rich would pay more for luxury items through an additional 5% tax imposed on cars costing more than $60,000, aircraft costing more than $500,000, yachts costing at least $200,000 and jewelry and furs costing in excess of $20,000.

In addition, a host of a fees, including those related to motor vehicle licensing and registration, parks and auto insurance, would go up, as would various state-imposed fines.

That is why, in the state budget I presented last Tuesday, I proposed a tax on sugared beverages like soda. Research has demonstrated that soft-drink consumption is one of the main drivers of childhood obesity.

For example, a study by Harvard researchers found that each additional 12-ounce soft drink consumed per day increases the risk of a child becoming obese by 60 percent. For adults, the association is similar.

If we are to succeed in reducing childhood obesity, we must reduce consumption of sugared beverages. That is the purpose of our proposed tax. We estimate that an 18 percent tax will reduce consumption by five percent.

Taxing gas will save the environment (less CO emissions)
Taxing taxis will... umm...  also save the environment (see above)
Taxing iTunes will also save the environment (less bandwidth used=smaller carbon footprint)

See?  Paterson isn't only saving New York's kids, he's saving the environment through taxation!  The man's a genius.
